We had the good fortune of connecting with Jules Aron and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jules, what role has risk played in your life or career?
You cannot be an entrepreneur without taking risks. Taking leaps of faith, overcoming fear and doubt, stepping into the unknown and putting new ideas into practice is all in a day’s work of a successful entrepreneur. Yet successful entrepreneurship also involves careful planning and hard work, and an optimistic risk-taker always looks at risks strategically– to be calculated and well-thought out–and failure as countless opportunities to learn. By giving up a steady job, you are giving up money, stability, security, for something– that i hope –you are passionate about, otherwise you are just not likely to succeed. For me, it’s holistic wellness, and after 5 books on plant based nutrition, healthier cocktails, and natural beauty, It is the only thing that continues to drive me.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a 5x cookbook author, recipe developer, food and drink stylist and beverage consultant. I incorporate my background as a holistic health coach to create conscious cocktails with a nutritional focus –to celebrate balance in the most delicious way. My professional path has been bumpy at best. I studied journalism and publishing in college, earning a Masters in publishing, business degree. I worked in trade publications for only a few years before going back to the drawing board. I then, tended bar for many more years, while studying Eastern medicine, natural healing modalities, energy healing and holistic nutrition. After many years of soul searching, i submit the manuscript for my first book, Zen and Tonic: Savory and Fresh Cocktails for the Enlightened Drinker– the best-selling cocktail title in 2016. I’ve written 4 more wellness books since then, Vegan Cheese, Simple, Delicious, Plant-Based Cheese Recipes, Nourish and Glow and Fresh and Pure, that cover plant based nutrition, DIY natural beauty, and my latest: The Low Proof Happy Hour that’s slated for January 2021. My advice to budding creatives is simple, choose something you are passionate about. It is the only thing that keeps you going day after day, night after night. Without a deep desire, it is very difficult to overcome the tremendous pit falls that we all face as entrepreneurs and self starters.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Here’s my perfect week long itinerary from Jupiter to the Keys. We’d spend the day paddle boarding in Jupiter and the evening listening to live music at one of their legendary waterfront bars. Have lunch and window shop on Worth Ave in Palm Beach. Enjoy the Norton Museum and head over to The Ben’s rooftop restaurant Spruzzo for dinner and drinks. Enjoy a day at the beach in Delray, followed by a craft food tour on Atlantic Ave. Take a stroll on the boardwalk in Hollywood, take the water taxi through the canals in Ft Lauderdale and ride the brightline to Miami. Spend the day eating, drinking and enjoying the street art in Wynwood. Grab a cafecito and pastelito on Calle Ocho in Little Havana. Head to John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park for the best snorkeling adventure.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes to Gyorgy Papp–an incredibly talented and dedicated photographer who brought my vision to life through his mouth watering photographs. Thank you for making my books come alive with your captures. It was always a blast creating with you.
