Meet Julio Silva | Designer, Photographer & Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Julio Silva and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Julio, how do you think about risk?
Sometime life still feels surreal when I go back on things. I’ve taken risks and put myself on the line a lot, leaving “stable” jobs, “easy” jobs, and every single time I’ve created a whole new set of opportunities for my future. It can be really scary but you also may unlock doors that you hadn’t even considered. I think as a creative person you always need to have an open mind so something truly great and unexpected doesn’t pass you by, that’s what’s gonna keep your mind creating new stuff all the time. Living new things, trying new things, experimenting new things. If you do nothing, then nothing will happen.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a Graphic Designer, Photographer & Content Creator. It’s never easy to make the choice to work as a creative professional, as children we are told to dream big dreams, if you believe it you can achieve it, yet when we tell our parents or teachers that we have a better way of doing things or that we’d like to be a designer or a photographer, they say no, that’s not the way it’s done you need to do it this way. Our society kills creativity. Creatives are told to fall in line with the rest, get with the program, and just do it our way because that is how it should be done. Creatives have to fight to be heard. I think what sets me apart from a lot of other designers and photographers is the fact that I care, I care about my clients, I care about the final result of a project, I work hard to create new things and I get excited everyday waking up to do what I love.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ve worked with some incredible, talented people throughout my career, too many too mention. Amazing Creative Directors like Cesar Balbas, Dean Chambers, incredible entrepreneurs like Luis Blanco, Vadim Mordovin, John Hilton & Antonio Rojas. I’ve learned that while it’s important to keep your head down and work hard, it’s also important to dream big and think ahead.
