We had the good fortune of connecting with Kai Peasley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kai, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to start my own photography business so that I could branch out creatively and craft a photography studio that aligns with my personal style. I had previously been an associate photographer for several studios and was ready to create something of my own!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a portrait and wedding photographer who thrives on capturing candid moments in all walks of life. My goal is to create portraits that remind my clients of the most important and special moments in their lives. Emotion, vibrance, and authenticity is what fuels the photography I create. I have been honored to capture many different cultures, traditions, and identities in my work and my studio is welcome to all!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m actually brand new to Miami so I’ve been doing a lot of exploring myself. Some of my favorite things so far have been trying new local restaurants and cuisines, exploring the variety of beach locations near and not so near to me, and meeting the folks in my neighborhood. If my friends were to visit I would definitely take them on an outdoor excursion like paddle boarding or one of the many hiking trails available!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’m originally from California (just moved to Miami on New Year’s Day) so I’d like to shoutout my two main photography collaborators Liz Zimbelman Photography and Christina Best Photography. We photographed together for the first 3 years of my business and their support and gorgeous work was a big part of me feeling confident enough to reestablish my business in Florida.
