We had the good fortune of connecting with Kavita Channe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kavita, how have you been keeping yourself busy during quarantine?
During this pandemic I started to get back to my creative side and I brought back my youtube channel… rebranded The Channe Show! I’ve had so many different people join me… from a family who overcame Covid-19… to NFL & NBA insiders… to the Founder of Viome Naveen Jain… to Single Mothers going through quarantine… to a top ER Doctor and a top pediatrician. I love the diversity of topics I’m able to bring instead of only focusing on sports.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve been a TV host and sports broadcaster for the past ten years. In 2018 I ventured outside of television and launched a rosé wine, Channé Rosé. In 2019 we won a silver medal awarded by the most prestigious, oldest and largest wine competition in the world… the Concours Général Agricole which is controlled by the French ministry of agriculture. That year a total of more than 16000 wines were tasted in Paris with about 4000 from the Provence area. Only 334 went home with a medal, including us. I am so proud of how far we’ve come in 2 years. And despite the recent hurdles we are experiencing along with so many others due to this awful pandemic, I am still hopeful that we will find a way to innovate and adapt!
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
If a special friend were to visit me for the day we would head to the Auberge in Fort Lauderdale for some beach and spa time. Then I would take them to Lobster Bar for a little happy hour fun sipping our award winning Channé Rosé. After that we would head to Terrace Grill at the Dalmar Hotel for more Channé Rosé along with “Deviled Eggs Royal“ (topper with smoked salmon and ostera caviar) along with some oysters and truffle fries. After that we would head to the rooftop for a little bit of a “South Beach” vibe in Fort Lauderdale… and then head home by midnight! I can’t hang past midnight these days. I’m an early riser 🙂
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
When I think back to anything I’ve ever done it always boils down to feeling like I could despite my inexperience. Sometimes I do scratch my head and perhaps second guess myself… however I tend to just jump right in regardless. Growing up, my parents truly believed in me. My mother didn’t quite understand the paths I wanted to take but she always supported me. My father never flinched when I would share my dreams no matter how crazy they were. In fact, he always tried to offer advice to get there. I do feel that the people around you that are raising you and shaping you as an adult are key to who you become and what you believe about yourself. It’s funny actually. I could literally win an Oscar and my parents would be so low key and mellow about it. They are proud of me just as I am and they don’t need confirmation from the world to prove my worth. I love that. Thank you, Mom & Dad.
