We had the good fortune of connecting with Kendra Zoe Parker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kendra Zoe, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?

Well, as a young, skinny and happy go lucky twenty-something year old, I was able to eat whatever I wanted without gaining an ounce. There was not a thought in my mind that that would change. But, of course, it did all change. I carried and gave birth to a beautiful, bouncing ten-pound baby boy.

Time went on and there I was, in my thirties, the years rolling by, my body changing for the worse, and me growing increasingly unhappy with my reflection.

So, like most women, I tried a little bit of everything in order to regain the body I desired. I went from extreme to extreme – starvation diets, extreme cardio; none of which worked for me long term. The difference maker for me was when my husband got me into weightlifting – heavy weightlifting.

I finally started to see the changes I desired, which led to me really go full steam into weight training, and eventually bodybuilding competitions.

The way my body changed was fascinating to me. So I first sought out, and attained, certifications in bodybuilding and nutrition to expand my knowledge of how exercise and nutrition correlate to get anyone the body they desire.

As that passion grew, I would generally share my journey with friends through social media; many of whom reach out to me asking for advice and tips on developing healthier habits.

That is why Body X by Zoe was created – to help women evolve into better versions of themselves through personalized exercise, nutrition and mindfulness programs.

In addition, I created the Body X Goddess Blueprint – a revolutionary course which provides a guided blueprint for women to essentially become their own personal trainer; able to develop their own exercise and nutrition programs to create the bodies they desire on their terms. It is a life-changing method that is creating a new breed of strong, empowered, healthy women. Knowledge is power.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

My business was created to empower women holistically – mind and body.

With the name Body X by Zoe, the X represents individuality. No two women are alike, so no two programs will be the same. That personalized programming geared towards what your own health and wellness goal is what makes my programs so successful. These are not cookie cutter programs, these are 100% tailored to the client; and they don’t miss.

I am so proud of the women who I helped lose weight while gaining an unmatched level of confidence and happiness. I act not just as a trainer, but also as an accountability partner, ensuring that the goals my clients set for themselves are stuck to and achieved. To me, the singular measure of success is my clients being happy as they make strides towards their body goals.

My journey for sure has not been easy. Shortly before my original business launch date, I got confirmation of a breast cancer diagnosis that derailed everything. Exercise, however, remained a key part of my daily life during my treatment and recovery. Being able to gain the benefits from exercise while going through such a challenging time was life-changing, but it was a positive in that physically and spiritually, I could now look at myself as a survivor – resilient, healed and whole.

That resilience is what I use to motivate clients who think that making these changes is impossible or too hard. That’s where mindset comes into play, and that mental wellness is key in all my programs.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

On weekends I love the beach, and Hollywood Beach is a beautiful, lively spot, the water is always clean and the vibe is really what you make it. You can lounge on the sand all day and chill out if you want to, or listen to live music on the boardwalk on the weekends.

The Guitar Hotel by Hard Rock is a destination all by itself. Day time pool parties and night clubs, as well as the casinos and restaurants. You won’t get bored whether you are a part of the action or just people watching.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
As I struggled with my weight and self image, the person who never allowed me to stay down on myself was my husband, Lamont. He probably grew sick of my whining, and one day just dragged me to the gym, put those heavy weights in my hand and I have not looked back since.
