Meet Kevin Bislal | Teacher, Author, Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevin Bislal and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kevin, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Growing up in a single-parent home, I always dreamed of traveling the world. I would imagine new places, cultures, and adventures, but for a long time, it felt like an unreachable dream—something only meant for others. It wasn’t until I started earning my own income that I realized travel could be a reality, not just a fantasy.
Over the years, I found myself naturally helping friends and family plan their vacations, book tickets, and discover hidden gems. It became clear that I had a passion for creating meaningful experiences—and I loved seeing others excited about their journeys. That passion, paired with my people-centered personality, led me to start Dream Escapes Travel Agency.
For me, this business is more than just booking trips—it’s about opening doors to new possibilities, especially for people who, like me, once thought travel was out of reach. As a writer of Sonnets That Touch the Soul (available on Amazon), and someone involved in a charitable initiative that supports children in homes with my sister, I’ve always believed in using my gifts to inspire, uplift, and serve others. Dream Escapes is an extension of that mission. It’s where my love for people, my creative spirit, and my belief in dreaming big all come together.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
From a young age, I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. There was something about the idea of shaping minds and making a difference that spoke to me deeply. Today, I’m proud to say I’m living that dream—I teach Science at the secondary school level, and every day I step into the classroom, I’m reminded that I’m walking in purpose. But for me, teaching has always been more than a job. It’s a calling rooted in my core belief that “service to man is service to God.” That philosophy has shaped every path I’ve walked.
My journey hasn’t been easy. Coming from a single-parent home, there were times when dreaming big felt like a luxury. But I held on to my passion for people and my drive to serve. Teaching opened so many doors—it helped me discover not just who I was, but who I wanted to become. It sparked the vision for Dream Escapes Travel Agency, a business born out of the joy I found in helping others create unforgettable memories. It inspired me to write “Sonnets That Touch the Soul,” a book that reflects the depth of human experience. And it continues to push me forward, now motivating me to pursue further studies in business so I can grow as both an educator and entrepreneur.
What sets me apart is heart. Everything I do—whether it’s in the classroom, through my business, writing, or the charitable work I do with my sister—is driven by a genuine passion for people. I believe in creating impact through action, in turning dreams into plans, and in using every gift I’ve been given to uplift others.
If the world were to take anything from my story, I’d want it to be this: Your purpose is bigger than your challenges. And when you lead with passion, service, and authenticity, the right doors will open—often in ways you never expected.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Absolutely! If my best friend were visiting, I’d make sure they had a week to remember—packed with flavor, adventure, good vibes, and a whole lot of local soul.
In Trinidad, we’d kick things off with a trip up the scenic North Coast Road straight to Maracas Bay for the iconic bake and shark. There’s something about that crispy shark, topped with fresh veggies and all the sauces, eaten with the waves crashing nearby—it’s an experience, not just a meal. Afterward, we’d continue the drive along the coast to Las Cuevas, a quieter, more laid-back beach where we could relax, swim, and enjoy the natural beauty away from the crowds.
Come nightfall, we’d head “down South” to The Cross in San Fernando, a bustling strip full of life, music, and street eats. Whether it’s BBQ, doubles, or wings—there’s something for every craving, and the energy there is unbeatable. Of course, we’d find a spot to grab a few drinks and soak in the local nightlife.
Now, if we’re talking Miami/Florida, I’m switching into tourist-guide mode. We’d start at South Beach—specifically The Strip—and hit Mango’s Tropical Café. It’s the perfect mix of great food, live entertainment, and vibrant Miami culture. After that, we’d stroll the beach or just lounge in the sun with a cocktail in hand. For a change of pace, we’d head to Bahama Breeze in Boulevard Square, Pembroke Pines—the tropical ambiance, island-inspired dishes, and laid-back vibes are perfect for winding down.
Whether in Trinidad or Florida, it’s all about immersing in the culture, the food, and the people. Great memories are made when the itinerary is rich with flavor, rhythm, and real connection—and that’s exactly the kind of experience I’d want to share.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without a doubt, my biggest shoutout goes to my father. He’s been the unwavering pillar in my life—his quiet strength and steady support have carried me through every challenge and stood beside me in every success. I also have to give credit to my sister; Karisa—she’s my daily motivation. Her resilience and heart inspire me to be better, do better, and dream bigger—not just for myself, but for the people we serve together through our charitable initiative.
I’m also incredibly grateful to my friends and extended family, whose encouragement has kept me grounded and driven, even on the toughest days. And I can’t forget my alma mater and the teachers who saw potential in me long before I saw it in myself. They planted the seeds of confidence, discipline, and curiosity that continue to guide my journey today.
Each of these people and institutions helped shape the man I am—the entrepreneur, the creative, and the person behind Dream Escapes Travel Agency, my book Sonnets That Touch the Soul, and the work we do supporting children in care homes. Everything I’ve built carries a piece of their influence.
