We had the good fortune of connecting with LaLa Peters and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LaLa, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind having my own business was really me stepping out on faith and betting on myself. As I became older I got more into makeup, I was always in someone’s chair getting my makeup done. At first I just wanted to learn how to master doing my own makeup so that I wasn’t relying on a makeup artist to do my makeup. I took my first makeup class in 2018 and loved every moment of it. I instantly wanted to be able to give other women that experience of getting their makeup done and to teach them how to do their own makeup. My thought process at first was to fulfill a need for myself that grew into being a vessel for other women.

What should our readers know about your business?
Running your own business is definitely not the easiest decision to make especially as you’re building your clientele. The makeup business is always evolving and with social media becoming a big part of advertising your business it has been a struggle. I take pride and pursuing my dreams and building of the legacy of my brand. I have learned that with all businesses you have your peaks and to maximize on those opportunities. I want to be an example of a women pushing to be the best and also encouraging women to believe in themselves. I love interacting with new women and hearing about their lives. Building those small bonds with women just empowers me to continue building a safe space for us. I want every client that sits in my chair to feel value, respected and seen.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would definitely hit up Just Spoons for a great breakfast/brunch. The food is amazing.
We then would head to Hand & Stone for massages. Follow that with dinner at Moxies on Las Olas.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t be doing something I love if it wasn’t for my devoted husband. He has been supportive from day one when I expressed that my current job just wasn’t fulfilling and I was interested in doing Makeup. He paid for my very first makeup class and has been assisting me behind the scenes. I am truly thankful and blessed to have him by my side. My entire family has been supportive every step of the way. My brother & sister have been my biggest cheerleaders from the beginning. My brother Teriq, help me secure my very first photoshoot for a new cosmetics line for a friend of his. That photoshoot had 8 people and it was my first time grooming a man, that day was full of new experiences and growth for me. My sister Neashia, my best friend has allowed me to practice on her from the very beginning and as my business has grown she has been supporting me along the way.
