We had the good fortune of connecting with Lari Gelman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lari, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I actually started my professional path in a scientific career but working with creative teams I fell in love with this artistic side of me. I decided to pursue this passion and now I truly enjoy it because I feel free when I create.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe that food photography is more than just showcasing a dish—it’s about telling a story, evoking emotions, and creating a sensory experience. My style combines a bright and airy atmosphere, thoughtful composition, and a keen eye for detail to highlight the textures and colors that make each dish unique. This approach allows me to create images that not only look appetizing but also convey the passion and craftsmanship behind the food.

My journey to this point hasn’t been without challenges. Transitioning into professional photography required me to overcome self-doubt and navigate the competitive landscape of the industry. I invested time in learning, experimenting, and refining my skills, often stepping out of my comfort zone to grow. These experiences taught me resilience and the importance of staying true to my vision.

I’ve learned that connecting with clients and audiences on an emotional level makes my work more impactful and fulfilling. Each project is an opportunity to collaborate, learn, and create something meaningful.

My brand is built on passion, creativity, and a commitment to excellence. Through PhotosbyLari, I aim to bring food to life, capturing its beauty and the stories it tells. Whether working with chefs, restaurants, or food enthusiasts, my goal is to create images that resonate and inspire.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For sure I would take them to the beach and in the afternoon for a stroll in Wynwood. Finish the day in Brickell in a nice restaurant. On Saturday we could go to a Farmers market and then prepare a meal at my house. In the afternoon go to Lincoln Road and end at a food truck for dinner.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank my husband Daniel that has been there for me supporting me all the way.
