We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsay Benjamin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindsay, why did you pursue a creative career?
Being a creator is what drives me in life.

When I am not creating, whether it be general content for social media, writing a new song, spending time in the recording studio, or helping other artists find their voices, I am trying to come up with the next idea to help keep my creative energy flowing.

I feel at my happiest when I am singing on stage, and helping people feel confident and motivated to keep following their dreams. My idea of success may not match another person, but I do what I do simply because it is my therapy, my joy. It makes me feel whole and fulfilled in my world.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started singing and acting at six years old. My very first show was Mary Poppins. Performing has always been in my blood. I didn’t come out of the womb crying, I came out singing.

Sometimes as an artist, it is hard not to think you are not good enough, and compare yourself to others. When I break it down and really get in tune with myself, I realize that I’ve actually done a lot more than I thought and take pride in the work accomplished.

Choosing to make your mark in the entertainment industry can be very challenging, and there are so many nooks and crannies on the pathway to success. The limit goes beyond the sky. The limit is truly whatever you want it to be.

I don’t know that I am exactly where I want to be yet, but with every step I take, I’m getting closer and closer.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’ve only been in South Florida for a little over a year, but have really enjoyed the quality of life here.

If in Fort Lauderdale, definitely the beach of course. Renting a boat, or jet ski.

Checking out some of the great restaurants like Takato, Chima, Park + Ocean.

There are also pickup sports games and food festivals in the area that you can check out. You can hop on the brightline train and get to West Palm Beach or Miami in 30 minutes. You can walk a trail at Hugh Birch State Park. You can kayak or rent a paddleboard. You can even go to an escape room, or find your nearest brewery to check out some of the local beers. There are tons to do, you just have to be willing to do your research to find it.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shout-out to so many people in my life, but especially my mother. She is no longer alive to see this, but she would be incredibly proud of how far I have come. I am strong because of her. She was a role model. She taught me what it means to always strive to do your best, and keep going no matter what the circumstances.
