We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa Pierce and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lisa, how do you think about risk?
You most likely have heard the quote, “No Risk, No Reward”. If that isn’t the truth! I always had my own event planning business. However, I was working as a consultant for another event company for many years. I absolutely loved my clients but I never felt fulfilled or was able to freely create what I dreamed of. I would listen to Oprah Winfrey say… What is your purpose? What is my purpose? Is this it? Working tirelessly for someone else as if it were my own company? This can’t be it? My purpose and most of all my PASSION was to fully launch my own event planning company. So what was stopping me? I was comfortable consulting but not happy. I mean I literally worked 24/7 as if this was my company then contemplating when is the right time to do this? My mother would always tell me that in order to be happy, I needed to do what I love.

Ok, I am ready. Then, in 2015 my world came crashing down. My mother was diagnosed with stage 4 uterine cancer. My mother was my best friend, my hero, my everything. There are no words to describe how helpless I felt. I am a planner. I am a problem solver. All I wanted to do is make her better. I moved my parents to Houston so my mom could go to MD Anderson for treatment. Her cancer was so rare, that her only options were clinical trials and to try anything and everything. I never wanted my mom to see me upset throughout her treatment wich was brutal. I would go cry in the closet whenever we would receive bad news because I never wanted her to worry about me. I would be in Houston two weeks and then Florida for two weeks. I did this for two years, all while working. My clients gave me the much needed joy I needed to be there for my mom.and unknowingly helped me get through some of the darkest days. Life events were always important to me. Now they brought on a whole new meaning. Life is a gift and meant to be celebrated.. My mother lost her battle two years after her diagnoses. I made a promise to my mom while she was in hospice. I told her that I would fulfill my dream and be happy. My mom opened her eyes and squeezed my hand. A moment that I will cherish forever because she heard me and I know she needed to hear that from me. I would honor that promise to my mother. It was time to take the risk. I would compare it to jumping off an airplane without a parachute, landing on my feet, and never looking back. There was no back up plan and I vowed I would never work for anyone else again. I said maybe I will take a few months of before launching Lisa Pierce Events. That never.happened….. I know my mom is watching over me. I miss her every minute of every single day. I am honored and humbled everytime a client asks me to plan their event. See, no risk no reward. I am grateful everyday to do what I love and am proud to call my former clients friends. Oh, and yes.. Lisa Pierce Events is my purpose.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Lisa Pierce Events is South Florida’s top Luxury Wedding and Event Planner. Lisa saw a definite need in the event industry to elevate the client experience. Planning, creating, and executing is only a part of what her definition of an event planner is. It is also about providing a level of Event Service like no other in a warm and happy environment. Her clients call her their stress reliever, new best friend, and sometimes therapist! Lisa’s strong connections with clients and vendors make the planning process not only fun, Lisa is also proud to call her former clients friends. We guide clients through everything from event concept and design to execution for weddings, corporate events, bar/bat mitzvahs, social celebrations, galas, non-profits, and more. Every client is unique and their event should reflect their event vision and personal style. “Cookie cutter” is not in our vocabulary. Every DETAIL matters. Lisa and her team are passionate and LOVE planning events. Watching our client’s expression when they walk into the reception knowing we have captured their vision and more is the best feeling in the world. These are the moments we live for and what drives us. Most importantly, being present at your event is priceless. Planning is in our DNA. We’ve got this!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This question is so foreign right now with a pandemic going on. When people visit, it is ALL about experiences. I can tell you without a doubt, shopping, eating, and staying at a beautiful resort with a spa day would be in order for my bestie. I cannot wait for the day we can actually do this!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, I would like to thank my mother for being the best mother a daughter could have. My husband who is my rock, continues to make me laugh, is the most supportive person, and the love of my life. My Dad for his witty comments, great advice, and support. My Poms for always making me happy. Bandit, Lola, & Henry AKA The Tuft My amazing friends and clients whose support means the world to me. Last but certainly not least my LPE team. Sarah Winters, my incredible Marketing Specialist whose creativity makes me shine everyday. My event team Tom, Kim, Taylor, and Nikki. You are only as good as your team. Thank you for being and on this journey with me. I could not do this without you.
