We had the good fortune of connecting with Loreymi Millan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Loreymi, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
When bad news keep coming your way and your emotions are not in control that’s when you need to take a step back and look at your surroundings. In my case, my family! They are the ones that made this possible, the ones that are always supporting me, and the ones that make me think/feel/see me as an important figure in their lives. Not long ago I had a depressed state in my life when I was even clinically medicated. Being a mother of a boy and pregnant at the same time put me in a position where they needed me the most. I was giving up on me but right after I gave birth to my second boy that’s when it hit me to be better for them. I wanted to support my husband and be the mother my children needed me to be. So, there’s this social media account that I have been following for over three years now that made me ask myself, if they do it, why wouldn’t I? I got myself enrolled in one of their arts and crafts courses so I would achieve my goal on developing my own business. My creative mind was so hign up to the sky that people started requesting my services and since then I haven’t stopped.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What makes me special about is the ability of doing things in a different way that nobody has seen before. It makes me proud how I picture something and bring it to life.
My biggest challenge was to start my career. It’s easy saying it than doing it.
The most important lesson was that whatever I thought about at that moment I achieved it and was recognized from it.
What I want the world to know about me is that I will make a change in their faces once they see my work. What they expected me to do VS how the suprise of it will amaze their reactions.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My best friend loves Asia’s culture so the day she arrived I took her to a Japanese garden where we learned how to make sushi, how to properly use the chopsticks, and a plenty information about their diet(they have amazing bodies). After that I had a plan of taking her to Winwood Walls to take pictures of the unrecognized place in Miami. Once we were done there I wanted her to experience the homemade craftbeer bars they have there. Following day after a long night she mentioned before that she was afraid of heights, so I arranged a sightseeing in a helicopter ride. She was blindfolded at all times until she heard the pilot’s voice asking “are you ready?” The ride was amazing which she really enjoyed except for when she got off she had a minor stomache. Well after a couple of hours I wanted to take things a little bit slow with her. She asked me to take her to an Improv show and I did, we saw Erika de la Vega and it was a fun night after all, however she wanted to keep doing awesome stuff so we went clubbing and went back home.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to give this shoutout to Caramelos Design. An Instagram account that its owner, Oly was there for me, mentoring me every step of the way. My Father, Alberto. For years he’s been telling me to keep growing, glowing, and be my best self.
And last, but not least, my family. Guillermo, my husband has been encouranging me to keep it up and do it not only for my family but for me, because I will take this knowledge to another level, a level that I won’t recognize myself.
