We had the good fortune of connecting with Maegan Burke and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maegan, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Impact over income has become my mantra over the past year. I created and unveiled my business during a global pandemic and managed to pay my rent with the income. This is an amazing feat, but most important to me is the DMs and emails that I get from people letting me know how much I’ve helped them grow, love themselves more, get a bit more selfish and protect their future selves.
I now apply that mantra to everything. For example, I have less than 2K IG followers, but my engagement is UNREAL. I get sometimes 50+ DMs per day of genuine conversation from humans that I’ve never even met and if that’s not love, I don’t know what is.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I don’t even know where to start. 😅 What sets me apart from others is that I’m Maegan and I’m the greatest to ever do it. I can do ANYTHING and people who love me will cosign that sentiment. My hustle is unmatched, my dreams are unmatched and no one will ever love you the way that I do. All of those qualities show in everything that I do.
At this point, I’m incapable of doing things that I don’t want to do, especially as a business owner. This affords me the opportunity to dive into my creativity and express myself confidently, freely and with love.
I’m currently hosting 4 interns from my alma mater, Goucher College, and one of them when asked to describe the foundation of my brand said “honesty” and that warmed my soul. I’m going to always keep it real and my parents would argue that I”ve always been this way lol.
If the world takes anything away from my brand and my story, I hope that it’s to always put themselves first, give themselves the grace that they give others and to be unapologetically authentic. If you can’t love you, no one can.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
To clarify, is this for Miami or Playa del Carmen? I’ve never been to Miami. 🙃
Fun fact, I’ve visited 30 countries yet I haven’t seen much of the States lolol.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Youth in Action of Providence, RI is a youth-run non-profit organization that changed my trajectory.
As a high school student, I managed a team of 20 and taught sex-ed throughout the city to other high school students. Little did I know that this was would start my path as an educator. I managed the team, helped create the curriculum, facilitated our weeklong sessions and was elected Board Secretary my senior year.
This type of experience as a kid is invaluable and being in meetings with mayors and other government officials so early in the game made me comfortable around any human of any stature which inevitable helped me break down doors throughout my 20s.
