We had the good fortune of connecting with Mahllleh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mahllleh, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Some of the best habits that I feel helped me succeed was staying consistent, putting myself out there and having fun. Poeple really sleep on consistency, but its crucial to your momentum that you maintain some level of it for poeple to take you serious and for you to stay relevent. A lot of being consistent also has to do with putting yourself out. Going for bigger things or even just trying new little things. Working with new poeple and introducing yourself to new crowds or new enviroments I should say. More importantly, you have to make sure you stay having a good time. Especially during moment where youre not as excited about the work you have to do. Finding ways to always have fun and enjoy the process to accomplishing goals and doing work is going to help you stay consistent and encourage you to want to put yourself out there. I think I’ve been blessed but I know also a lot of it was on me. These 3 habits realy helped me in this industry.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
One of the biggest things that others have told me what sets me apart from others is my ability to be so vulnerable and personable through my lyrics. It warms my heart to know the message behind my music has really helped poeple in my community. I’m honesty so proud of my community for hving the courage to push through their hardships and proud of myself for making art that can make them feel seen or heard during that sensitive time in their life. It makes me excited for this my next project release “Aint my fault”. A 4 track EP set to release this summer produced by 6 West. This project dives into subjects about relationships and learning from childhood experiences. Growing up in a dysfunctional and impoverished family, music was one of the only things that could soothe me and allow me to feel free from the burdens of my enviroment. Having started playing instruments as a toddler, by the time ai was a teenager I was performing on the street for money, giving myself the oppurtunity to find stability in music. That hustle in me came from not having my needs met as a child and motivated me to take risk that most poeple around me in my city didnt even fathom to take. It was only easy when I let go of the need to control the outcome of my endeavors. Letting things happen as they should but also putting all my effort into something for the sake of staying busy rather then accomplishing things helped me overcome challenges of being overlooked and/or under appreciated for my work ethic and talent. One of the most important things I want the world to know about me as that even on my hardest days I never made excuses on why I couldnt perform at my best. I have always tried to use my misfortunes in life to fuel my motivation to keep going in music.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Some of the best places to hear some Live music in San Jose is downtown. If you come during the Jazz Festival season there are so many poeple who come from all over the region to experiences the grand scale of our yearly event. From the selection of mexican food and Vietnamese cuisine (best found in San Jose’s east in my opinion) to our iconic Berryessa Flea Market you can find food and San Jose music culture in the most unpredictable places. The best thing about San Jose is the way poeple show up for you especially when you have showed up for them. Poeple in San Jose can be very reciprocal. Whatever you put into others you get back and I have always cherished that about my community. Poeple can be both friendly and real and always down to have a great time. Some really cool places to experience San Jose in my opinion are visitng the Mexican heritage plaza especially during a cultural event. Stop by lake cunningham and have a fun day at Raging waters or enjoy the largest skate park in Northern California. We have awesome downtown activities like Subzero Festival, Sofa Street Fair & First Fridays. Japantown has some of the most trendiest shopping and food spots. Experience how emersed vietnamese cultures is in San Jose through Little Saigon area. You’ll find some of the best Pho you have ever had in your life there.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate to anyone who has ever supported, believed, encouraged or appreciated the work that I have put into my music and my relationship with it. I wouldnt have gotten this far without you. I honestly can’t thank you all enough.
