We had the good fortune of connecting with Marissa Lipton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marissa, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I saw this as an incredible opportunity for business owners to connect. I saw how hard people were working to build a brand and get in front of others, and some didn’t know how to market themselves and I had to do something it.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is a platform and safe space for business owners to learn about public relations, marketing, business development and event planning. Marketing isn’t about one side of marketing. You really have to have it all. You have to have the brand, a concept that makes sense, a refreshing story that is true and authentic and know how to close the deals. You have to have the support from others in order to be successful, as much as we talk about being independent and being innovative. In order to share who we really are, we have to be authentic, so I teach others how to dive deeper into their stories to share some of their greatest successes. I have traveled all over Florida and met probably more people than most people would meet in a lifetime, but I did it out of passion and belief that it would help others on a massive scale. Owning a business is not easy. You have to make sacrifices in life and wake up early in the morning, work on weekends, and late at night. You have to meet new people all of the time. It is challenging and keeps you on your toes.
I have always stayed true to myself when owning a business. People will ask you to get involved in many partnerships or collaborations, and I have a brand and message that I want that is positive and has to be authentic to who I am.
I want the world to know that if you want something bad enough, you have to go the distance to get to where you want to be. No one is going to create a path for you, and show you where to go. You have to dive deep and find your inner-calling. I would close my eyes and imagine my ideas and turn them into reality. You have to be strong enough to have alone time to be able to step into your own creative mindset where you can create opportunities that have never been thought about and turn it into a reality. If you want to make a difference, it is okay to be different too. Anyone can create a life and path that they want, it is just how far are you willing to go to get there?
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When it comes to Palm Beach/West Palm, Beach, I would definitely say you cannot go wrong with HMF at the Breakers, Swifty’s at The Colony Hotel, Lola 41, Buccan, Imoto, Bricktops, Bice, Henry’s, Harry’s, Taboo, Avocado Grill and The Ben Hotel rooftop to listen to great music. As far as Delray Beach you will have to try ALL of the spots on the Ave. (Atlantic Ave). Who can forget about Miami? We need more than a week to explore! We need more time to talk about this!
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I think it is very important in business to understand where we come from. One of the most life-changing books I read was in college, at UCF, called “Family and Communications.” This covered how we were raised and how we react to others. This helped me understand others and why they react the way that they do. So much of marketing is about the psychology of how we think. I noticed in my career. I enjoyed connecting and listening to others dive deep into their passions, fears, and goals, so that I could help them share and market his/her brand. Everyone has such unique talents, and sometimes it would just take time to listen to discover and connect the dots of who someone is.
