Meet Melodie Briere | Makeup Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Melodie Briere and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Melodie, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe that taking risks is the most important in changing your life and going in the direction that will give you no regrets. Traveling the world and doing what you think is best to have a fulfilling life in my case , means I have to take risks. Luckily I know that I have a solid family and that whatever happens, I will be alright. You have to be hardworking if you are going after your dreams, there is no secret. That ties into having faith in yourself and knowing that all the skills and all the hard work you have done will give you your wings once you jump.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Even though some people do not see makeup and hair as art. I believe it really is. Each makeup is different and unique as each human is. That is the most beautiful and challenging part about it all. We are all moving canvases and project different looks with our expressions and our feelings. I am very proud of being able to work in the USA thanks to all the skills I have developed over the years. Hard work does pay off and I am delighted to do work in a job I love and have passion for. I think I had the chance to follow my desires and worked with extremely talented people over the years , that is due to luck but also hard work and looking out for opportunities and creating them myself.
My teacher said to us ” nobody will come to your house and offer you work, you need to go get it ” and that is what I have done. I created my own luck and built my opportunities. I believe strongly in the phrase , if at first you don’t succeed , brush yourself off and try again.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have always been into dancing and when I lived in London was part of the underground dance community as my best friend Mademoiselle Ginger is a great dancer and always took me with her. I have found the dancing community here as well and Break In Mia hosts a lot of dance events and battles . I would recommend to do that one day if you have never been as Florida has some great talent. I love living in Sunny isles and going to Haulover beach on my days off . It’s very convenient for me and during the week it is very quiet.
My favourite restaurant is Drunken Dragon in south beach , it has a cool vibe and a great 70s and 80s playlist.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents are definelty the reason I have had such a beautiful life and pursued the career that makes me happy above all else. My dad is definelty the best human on earth and is a happy philanthropist , my mum has this careless attitude about her that is very French and that makes everything alright even though she plans everything.
