We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Halley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michael, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Flow State Studios is a community wellness center where people can come and participate in different activities that induce a healing state of flow. In positive psychology, a flow state, also known colloquially as being in the zone, is the mental state in which a person performing some activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity. In essence, flow is characterized by the complete absorption in what one does, and a resulting transformation in one’s sense of time. Being in this state of flow allows for energetic harmonization within each individual and results in lowered levels of stress and anxiety while increasing strength, health and happiness. At Flow State we offer free yoga, breathwork, movement, and sound healing classes weekly. We also host personal training, jiu-jitsu, music, and ceramics classes. The space also includes a professional grade recording studio for musicians to create affordably. We have created a beautiful space for the community that is centered around creativity and support, and it has really grown into a family. It is the perfect spot to come and get away for a while. The goal of Flow State Studios, apart from being a community wellness center, is to fund Flow Camp projects to poor communities around the world. These camps will include interactive mural projects, simple breathwork and movement techniques, instrument making workshops with ecstatic dance practices, art projects, sports, games and fire dancing. An inspirational overload in celebration of the arts that we truly believe will positively impact the lives of all who are involved.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Professionally, I am a licensed Professional Engineer. I own a highway construction company alongside my two brothers and my father. We started the company a little over 8 years ago and we have been very fortunate to have grown it into a business that supports over 150 families.    Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My success in life is attributed to my family. My mother and father always led by example and showed us unconditional love. My brothers and father have also been instrumental partners in my professional career and continued success. I would not be where I am today without them.
