We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Alva and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michelle, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I saw a need for people to learn how to become their own greatest source of healing and transformation, rather than seek the solutions only outside of themselves. I felt I needed to also have the freedom to express my gifts and services being my own boss, so I created my own coaching services and the Alva Method Empowerment Academy Online and Conscious Sex Academy Online.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I graduated when I was 22 years old from Florida International University with a degree in Physical Therapy. By then, I was also practicing yoga, and vegetarian. I went into the PT world, specializing in pediatric Physical Therapy, which taught me a lot about how to play, how we develop our movement skills from baby to adult, and how the nervous system influences the movement system. I was very passionate about working with kids, because they always were motivated and full of life! What I realized quickly was how important their parents’ relationship impacted their child… and I became an Infant Massage Instructor, I began studying the importance of touch communication and nurturing our children… which led me to then also desire to work with pregnancy time… I became a Pregnancy Belly dance teacher, and Became a Yoga Teacher, specializing in Pre/Postnatal Yoga. I created a program called Nurturing Moves Pre/PostNatal Wellness Program, and A Touch Of Love Infant Massage Program. I taught these at two major hospitals in South Florida, and became pregnant! Then I moved to Boston for 3 years and had my daughter, I breast fed her for two years, and loved so much being a new mom. I loved being pregnant, so much that I had her after 42 weeks and 3 days!!! I eventually went back to work after about 4 years of really enjoying my daughter… she started preschool, and I didn’t want to go back to my “traditional” pediatric PT job. I was so passionate about teaching yoga, and I had taken Therapeutic Touch, an energy healing approach… and so I applied to work at the Canyon Ranch in Miami Beach, they had an integrative medicine center. And I was hired as an energy healer, not as a physical therapist. So I began working there and it felt so crucial for me to teach my clients how to breathe efficiently to command their energy… not just to do energy healing on them…. and so I began exploring integrating breathwork, energy healing, and sound healing as we had crystal bowls at the center…. and over the years I also integrated Yoga, Belly dance, Singing/toning, and Shamanic Rituals into the sessions. I eventually shifted to working for myself and with clients over zoom, and over the phone, teaching large groups this integrative approach which I call now The Alva Method of Empowerment. I became an NLP (Neurolinguistic programming) Practitioner, Hypnotist, PSYCH-K® Facilitator, Life Coach, Time Dynamics Practitioner, and Tantra Practitioner to guide clients with mindset/energy approaches as I discovered how my clients could process chronic pains in seconds from being guided with E3 Breath, which is a technique I was inspired to create, that teaches the client how to re-set their nervous system and release the weight of the emotions they were holding in their body tissues. Over these past 8 years especially, I have been refining the Alva Method approach and teaching clients the minimum needed to know to get maximal benefits. So much of what I do today is about guiding clients inside, to create heart coherence, to create peace and to stimulate their oxytocin naturally (the healing and love hormone). The Alva Method Teaches clients to harness their innate healing and love power and listen to their intuitive body wisdom. This approach is what I feel has been missing in health care, and I have 8 students that I am currently training to become Alva Method Practitioners. One of them is a physical therapist, one is a doctor and the others are young professionals who are here to inspire others to be their own greatest source of empowerment and healing.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would first take them to the pristine beach of Key Biscayne, where I live, and we would go to Costa Med in Key Biscayne for dinner. I would also take her to South Beach, South Pointe Park and we would go for a long walk, and have lunch at Under The Mango Tree and eat an Acai Bowl, and a yummy smoothie, for dinner we would go to Planta Miami Beach. I would take her for a spa day at The Standard Miami Beach, and we would spend some time there having fun also getting ourselves pampered with the Body wraps and massages. I would take her also to Faena for a yoga class and dinner. We would also take a drive for a spa day at the Eau Spa in palm beach which is one of my personal favorite spas!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people who have been amazing teachers, mentors, and guides in my life! The first two that come to mind are Cathy Moore, Marianne Williamson, Dr. Bruce Lipton, Dr. Joe Dispenza, and Kevin Walton! Each person has gifted me with the awareness that I am a powerful creator, that I can have it all and that I am powerful beyond measure! A lot of my personal story is about awakening to my own innate power, to own my sovereignty, and I feel all these individuals exemplify this and have had a massive influence in my life.
