We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Oravitz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michelle, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I feel that the most important factor behind the success of my brand is heart! People feel when you truly care and ultimately this is what sustains the longevity of a brand. It also fuels my drive and is what gets me going every day! When you chose a business that aligns with what you love, work doesn’t feel like work.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I changed my career later in my life – I began as an architect working in NYC and was experiencing symptoms from stress and having an imbalance lifestyle. When I began getting acupuncture treatments, my life and health changed. This started a fire within me to learn natural medicine. It wasn’t easy at first, and I had a lot of resistance from family members about changing my career – but deep inside, I knew that I had no choice. I truly believe that being in the wrong field of work can make you physically ill. Once I got licensed in Oriental medicine, I opened my practice and it took me quite some time to build it. Once I chose to specialize in women’s health and committed my practice to focus on what I love, it blossomed! The major lesson that I learned from my journey is to allow your heart to have a voice, and let that voice guide you!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to the beach, and maybe a long walk on the boardwalk in Miami Beach! I would also take them to Lincoln Road to go shopping! Let’s not forget the food! I love Plant Miami and many of the Japanese restaurants in Miami Beach. I also love Stubborn Seed!! I would also take them to Fontainbleau because you can’t come to Miami Beach without seeing it!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I absolutely love Oprah and she has influenced my life since I was very little. I remember having difficult times growing up but feeling so inspired by Oprah and her message of hope. I love learning from people who continue to strive in a way that not only helps them grow, but helps others grow and benefit as well. I love the practice of raising consciousness and coming from a place of service to others.
