Meet Mylene Costa | Visual artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mylene Costa and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mylene, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My work contributes to the world by giving form to what is often invisible: silence, memory, feminine strength, and the passage of time. As a sculptor and painter, I create works that invite people to pause, feel, and recognize their own inner landscapes. I believe art does not need to explain everything; it can open space for presence, sensitivity, and transformation.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My work begins with the belief that form comes before explanation. As a sculptor and painter, I explore the body, silence, time, and permanence through material presence. My path was built slowly, with persistence, discipline, and trust in my own language. What I am most proud of is remaining faithful to my vision, even when the journey was not easy. I want people to experience my work not as something to be explained, but as something to be felt.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting Miami, I would start with the city’s art and cultural side. I would take her to the museums, especially Pérez Art Museum Miami, and then to Wynwood, the arts district, to see the murals, galleries, and creative energy of the city. I would also include the Design District, Bal Harbour, and a walk by the ocean, because Miami is a place where art, architecture, fashion, and nature meet. For me, the best Miami experience is not only about restaurants or beaches, but about feeling the city’s light, diversity, and artistic pulse.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I give thanks to God for being blessed with this gift. Then, to my husband, Sergio Costa, who has been my greatest supporter. Even before I fully believed in myself, he already did — encouraging me, standing by me, and helping me sustain my path as an artist. His presence has been fundamental in my journey.
