We had the good fortune of connecting with Nakishah ( KidCrayola) Reed and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nakishah ( KidCrayola), what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Always being up to date with music. Perfecting my marketing on social media, practicing my DJ transitions & Networking

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a vibe bender so what sets me apart from others is that once I dive into the World Wide Web and start searching for music I have no limits, I’ll go from Afrobeats to UK Drill to Haitian Raboday. I’m a geek for music, because of that I have a wide range of music style. I’m able to read the venue and give a nice ambiance. I like to make people listen to new things that they didn’t know they would enjoy. I know I personally love being put on to some bomb music. I actually started mixing because of my weekly playlist “#MusicMonday” In 2018 I started to make playlist on Spotify for my friends and my followers on Snapchat. Then in 2019 I voiced my desire to learn how to DJ and became a DJ. I wouldn’t say DJing is easy but I fell in love with it the moment I had my first gig. What helps is staying happy and enjoying yourself. Yes, you are mixing for the crowd but have fun doing it . Lesson I’ve learn are more technical , like having the right equipment and back ups. Be clear on your contracts, tell them how everything you need, honestly I’m still learning. I want the world to know that my brand is about inclusivity and self love.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Favourite spot in the city. Wow there’s too many spots. Not to brag but Montréal has a lot of fun places to go especially for food. The one thing you should do here is go eat, check out La banquise, Orange Julep, Milky Way Bar the list goes on & on. If my best friend came in town I’d started by getting some drinks at “La distillerie” then I’d go to an Indian restaurant in the Jean-Talon area. The next day we would start our day at the Strøm spa nordique. To later on join ours friends at a get together for some board games. Next evening we’d hit a steakhouse at “Vieux Port” Old Port. Then do some water activities there, picnic near Saint-Lawrence River. Another place I’d want to visit with my bestie would be the planetarium because I love looking at stars even though we don’t really see them in the city. Plus it’s near the Biodôme so we could go see some animals afterwards. Later we’d catch a drinks in a hidden bar, the Cloakroom Bar. These are the type of activities I’m into. I also love day parties my favourite is Language des Fleurs at Don B.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shout-out to my entourage. I have a really amazing eco system. My friend are really crafty and artistic. I do want to give a special shout-out to my brother Don Karnage who used to be a singer/song writer in the 90’s early 2000’s he’s a great inspiration for me & my DJ teacher DJ Lexxes for being a kind hearted person and an amazing teacher.
