We had the good fortune of connecting with Nancy Zepeda and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nancy, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
The most important thing I’ve done as a parent is to give my son a foundation to base his life on. All children need to be taught moral standards, commitment, character, integrity, and self-discipline. In addition, children need to see that hard work pays off and never to quit the things they love. Children might not demonstrate these qualities right away, but they will be evident in later years. When my son was in 1st and 2nd grade he struggled in academics and his behavior was a constant struggle. He is now in 6th grade in all advanced classes and doing the best he has ever done! When you teach your child that they can achieve anything if they are willing to work hard for it, it teaches perseverance and self-discipline. The best way for a child to learn is to see their parent as an example. As a former single parent, I worked a full-time job and then would come home and work late hours on my business called Crazy Games (www.CrazyGamesFL.com). My son has seen me work hard for over 10 years, growing a successful business and now expanding to our first indoor facility called Crazy Games Jungle Gym and Indoor Playground (www.CrazyGamesPark.com) in West Palm Beach, FL. Being a good example to your child and teaching them how to be successful, is a parent’s main purpose in life. They need to know how to communicate with respect, the difference between right and wrong, how to deal with stress, and how to add value to the community they live in. Children need direction as they grow in order to be successful in all aspects of life.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m very excited about finally seeing my dream of 12 years become a reality. I wrote a business plan in college for an indoor playground and was able to use most of it for my current business plan. I’d have to say that securing a loan from SBA has been the one of the biggest projects I’ve ever completed but as I tell my son, hard work pays off! Growing a mobile game and inflatable business is extremely difficult, you must make people see the value in your service, build a good reputation, gain influential business partners, and keep pushing even when you have slow sales. There were many times I wanted to quit due to the heat, seasonal income, and lack of good and reliable staff. We all know how hot working outside in Florida can be, at times it makes you feel like your brains are cooking inside your head. But did I quit, No! I own a company called Crazy Games so you know I’m a tad crazy, I love to work with large groups of children outside in the hot summer heat! It’s worth it when I see children with big smiles playing games I’ve designed or when little girls come up and ask me for my autograph at a school. I have a love for children and want to provide an opportunity for them to play fun games with all their friends and create lasting childhood memories. Every child deserves a childhood worth remembering. It really breaks my heart to see so many children having to grow up fast and dealing with stress caused from poor parenting, neglect, or abuse. As a company, we are dedicated to helping foster kids in our community and children living in poverty. Our purpose of expanding Crazy Games mobile to Crazy Games Jungle Gym and Indoor Playground is to secure enough financial stability to open our own foster care homes and help more children in need.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Some of the most interesting places that I enjoy going to for exercise include the oldest street on Palm Beach by the Flagler Museum because the most amazing Banyan Tree lives there with a root that looks like a tail of a large dinosaur. If it was for dinner I’d have to select Bimini Twist or Saito’s Sushi or Sushi Jo. I enjoy gong to Drive Shack and the Rapids water park.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents taught me the same Godly foundation to go back to when life hit hard. My parents were not rich, but they were rich in wisdom, kindness, and love for their family and others. They would always keep me focused on what was truly important in life and how to show love and forgiveness to others. Another significant person to my success is my husband because he pushed me to take Crazy Games to the next level when I was on the verge of selling it. He is also strong in every task that I am weak, so we make a good match. I guess I should give a shout out to Match.com for that one!
