We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalie Rowe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Natalie, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
When I think about legacy I think about my father. My father was one who served. He served others by helping however he could. If that meant providing transportation, clothes or food for a family in need, caring for ailing family members or being a mentor to young men. My dad lived a life of service. He has been gone for over eleven years and I still meet people who were positively impacted by my dad.
That is what I want my legacy to be. One of service, where even years after I am gone my children and grandchildren will benefit from the seeds of service I have planted. One where the work that we do through the FIT Enterprises boutique of companies will have long lasting positive impacts on the communities we serve.
In short, I want my legacy to be one of service just like my Superman, my Daddy.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
FIT Enterprises is the parent company of four boutique firms: Askcolestars, Artwalk Presents, Enterprise Empress & SPROUT. Under the FIT umbrella, its firms specialize in services that preserve art and culture, provide organizational support and development, women empowerment, and food insecurity.
What sets us apart from others is that all the work we do is to make communities FIT through connecting local government, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations and businesses together. We strive to provide positive long term change in underserved communities in South Miami Dade County.
I am most proud that my business partner, Sharon E. A. Coleman and our team are creating programs to serve underserved communities in South Dade, helping organizations create a stronger infrastructure, shining a spotlight on female leaders and providing healthy food to those most in need.
Doing this has not been easy, it requires long days and nights, bumps in the road and sacrifices. We overcome these challenges through relying on each other, our team and never giving up. I personally lean on my village and take time out for self-care, I find that taking time away allows my mind to reset and I have fresh insight when I come back to all the things that require my attention.
Two lessons I have learned is tenacity is a must for entrepreneurs and never forget your why. Always remember why you started.
I want the world to know FIT Enterprises is is making communities FIT through collaborations and programming!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love to eat so if my friend was visiting for a few days we would have to visit my favorite food trucks! We would hit up @lacatrinamiami for the best tacos in South Dade. There tacos are worth the wait every Taco Tuesday. On Thursday, we stop by @infusioncatering305, everything that comes out of Anthony’s truck is absolutely delicious. On Friday, we have to get sticky wings from @foodjunkiesonwheels. Our final stop would be to the Conch Master Danny Walker for seafood that is so fresh and so good it is worth the drive to Richmond Heights no matter where you are coming from.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This shoutout is dedicated to my mom, Willie Maude Shinhoster, my mom was my first example of who I wanted to be when I became a mom. She has the uncanny ability to make each one of her children, grandchildren, and bonus children feel as if they are the most important person in her universe and that we can do whatever we set our mind to. Being a safe place for those who need it is her super power!
