We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicki Fraser Ph.D. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Dr. Fraser, a 45-year-plus resident of So. Florida and triple FIU graduate supports the Public Policy and Administration Chair, faculty, and students as the Assistant Chair of the Department. Her years of leading, coaching, and mentoring students align perfectly with FIU’s Next Horizon 2025 mission to prepare and nurture global 21st-century leaders. Her involvement as Global Learning and COIL distinguished faculty, collaboration with CIBER, the Frost Museum at FIU, and The Maurice Ferré Institute for Civic Leadership advance the institution’s strategic vision to be a top 50 public university. As an Assistant Teaching Professor at FIU, Dr. Fraser connects with students online or in the classroom, mentoring Pathways and 4+1 PA students, encouraging and supporting their professional public sector goals. In addition, Dr. Fraser has been an active ASPA member for 12 years (currently the incoming President) and is the faculty adviser to Pi Alpha Alpha- the global Public Affairs Honor Society.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
American Society for Public AAdministration-South Florida is the professional association that connects me to academics and practitioners committed to public service. The Society is the professional home for more than 9,000 PA practitioners, academics, and students with its South Florida Chapter consisting of 245 members strong and growing. The Chapter embraces the society’s original concept of finding ways of assisting its members to work better in their profession under the auspices of the national founder.
The Society is a not-for-profit internationally recognized Society committed to excellence in public service. ASPA provides its membership with education, research, technical assistance, and networking opportunities between academics and practitioners.
The other institution supporting my success is the FIU Stephen J. Green School for International Affairs (SIPA) and within SIPA the faculty of the Public Policy and Administration who coaches and supports my efforts to mentor students.
