Meet Nicole Luer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Luer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nicole, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Photography is something I’m truly passionate about, and I finally had the time to learn, grow, and build something of my own.
Back in Chile, I was a lawyer, and since moving to the U.S. a few years ago, I hadn’t worked in that field. One day, a friend suggested I turn my love for photography into something more… and honestly, I didn’t hesitate for a second! I don’t know how it hadn’t occurred to me before! So I simply went for it, and that’s how this beautiful project was born.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a mom of two beautiful boys that are growing really fast. I think that’s why I chose to focus on family, newborn and maternity photography. I’ve always loved photography, but it wasn’t until I became a mom that I truly understood its value. Our children grow up so fast, life moves quickly, and we’re always so busy, so I know how important it is to capture every stage. And not just photos of our children, but with us in them too!
I think one thing that defines my photography style, is that I really love to capture each family in the most authentic way possible, to reflect their true connection, capturing not only beautiful pictures but also authentic and real and natural moments. To me, the best photos are never the perfectly posed ones. They’re the ones where parents are playing with their kids, fixing their clothes, just being themselves… and kids are simply being kids: running, laughing, exploring, hugging.
That’s also why I don’t work in a studio. I prefer natural spaces: the beach, a park, or their home, where I can truly capture that real-life authenticity.
I won’t lie — getting genuine smiles from little ones isn’t always easy. But with a few tricks, a bit of freedom, and the help of their parents… magic happens. I think the most important lesson that I’ve learned is that sessions can’t be fully planned; every family is different, and I love letting things happen naturally to flow with whatever unfolds, letting each family’s unique personality guide the moment.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I know it’s obvious, but for me, the beach is a must. For families, I recommend heading to quieter spots: Dania Beach is one of my favorites.
Another place I absolutely love and always recommend is a restaurant/bar in Key Biscayne, The Cleat, where you can watch the sunset. There’s live music, a super relaxed vibe, your feet are in the sand… it’s the perfect way to end the day.
Wynwood is also a must if you’re visiting, not just for the incredible murals and photo-worthy backdrops, but also for the variety of great places to eat, walk around, and grab a drink, each with its own unique style.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to honor my mom, who was a wonderful artist and painter. Even though she’s no longer in this life, I know that my creative and artistic side is her legacy. She’s also been my inspiration to reinvent myself and believe in who I am. And to my husband and family, for believing in me from the very beginning, for trusting my talents and abilities and encouraging me to think big.
