We had the good fortune of connecting with Olamide Abimbola and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Olamide, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting my business I felt challenged leaving my corporate 9 to 5 to become my own boss. I convinced myself not to care what people would think and fulfilled my true passion creating financial freedom. I was ready to learn and just do it no matter what.

What should our readers know about your business?
Lamlux Fashion is my clothing and accessory brand that I officially created in 2020. I sell to young confident women that love fashion and own the room with how they dress themselves. We encourage our customers to be unique and different wearing our fashion. We are proudly black owned and inspired by the culture. I sell pieces with African prints and bright color fabrics. Lamlux got to where it is today by staying true to our brand vision which is to make people look and feel good. Since I opened my business I always make it my duty to keep the customers happy with great quality, customer service, and iconic collections. Starting my business was not easy. I had to learn how to select the right fabric and manufacturers to produce the exact product I wanted to sell. Consistency and trying again after my mistakes is how I overcame any challenges in the past. I learned that success does not happen overnight, it takes time and real work. Moving forward I want the world to know that it’s only going to get bigger and better from here and join the lux tribe.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

I love my city Miami! If I have to show my friend a good time we hit the streets of Wynwood for art, food, and drinks. It’s always a good time walking the strip of restaurants and bars. House of Mac is always a fun choice to grab a bite to eat including that unique menu of Mac. Next, we have to go to the beach. I prefer Hallandale/Hollywood Beach because it is more relaxing. Girls love brunch one of my favorite brunch spots is  Victory Lounge in Midtown Miami soooo good! Victory has Tasty food, music, and overall nice ambience.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I did a lot of research the past 5 years. Learning and teaching myself was to better my craft and business. One of the books that really help change my mindset is Think & Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. I studied that book for over a year to understand that true success starts with a certain mindset.

I want to thank the support of my friends and family that encouraged me from day 1.

#1 God for his reassurance and love throughout it all. I am thankful for God!
