We had the good fortune of connecting with Patricia Lahera and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Patricia, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
We (Marcia Leon and Patricia Lahera) come from professional backgrounds—holding master’s degrees and years of experience in the corporate world—but we’ve always shared a deep passion for aesthetics and self-care. We wanted to merge that professional discipline with our love for beauty and wellness to create something truly special.

We saw a clear opportunity in the market: clients were searching for a place that not only offered excellent treatments and advanced technology, but also delivered an elevated experience—one that feels personal, luxurious, and thoughtfully designed.

For me, Patricia, growing up in Mexico City where service and attention to detail are at the heart of every luxury experience, it was evident that something was missing in many MedSpas I visited in Miami. I often felt the treatments were good, but the experience—the warmth, the aesthetic, the “wow” factor—wasn’t there. That’s what inspired us to build Amma Aesthetics: a place where every detail matters, where science meets beauty, and where clients feel genuinely cared for from the moment they walk in.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Amma Aesthetics is a luxury medical spa in South Miami / Coral Gables area, founded with a clear vision, to redefine the aesthetic experience through a balance of science, artistry, and genuine care. We focus on delivering natural, refined results using the most advanced technology and medical-grade skincare, all within a space designed to feel warm, elegant, and inviting.

What sets us apart is our philosophy: every treatment, every interaction, and every detail is guided by intention. We don’t just treat skin, we try to design experiences. From the first consultation to post-care follow-up, our goal is to make every client feel seen, heard, and confident.

Getting here wasn’t easy. Like any startup, we faced challenges (an keep facing them), from finding the right location to building a trusted team and navigating the complexities of opening a medical practice. But persistence, teamwork, and an unwavering belief in our vision kept us moving forward. We learned that growth takes patience, adaptability, and the ability to turn obstacles into opportunities.

Today, we’re proud of the brand we are building, a space where clients feel safe, valued, and inspired to invest in themselves. We want the world to know that Amma Aesthetics isn’t just about beauty treatments, it’s about empowerment, self-confidence, and creating a standard of care that feels as personal as it is professional.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’d start the trip at the beach, of course—there’s no better way to feel Miami’s energy than with sun, sand, and ocean breeze. Over the weekend, we’d visit one of the local Farmers Markets—we love discovering fresh produce, artisanal goods, and the vibrant community that gathers there.

When it comes to food, Miami has endless gems. We’d make reservations at Recoveco for an elegant dinner, MILA Omakase for a truly special experience, and enjoy brunch at Greenstreet Café—a classic Sunday spot in Coconut Grove. A stop at Pura Vida for their avocado toast and fresh juices would definitely make the list too.

For sightseeing, we’d explore the must-see neighborhoods: the iconic South Beach, the colorful art scene in Wynwood, the charm and architecture of Coral Gables, and the lively atmosphere of Brickell. Each area has its own character and flavor, making every day a new adventure.

Miami is full of fun, beauty, and amazing people—and there’s always something new to discover.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Our families deserve the biggest shoutout. They’ve been our foundation, a unique group of loving individuals who have supported us unconditionally from the very first day we opened our doors.

We also owe so much to our husbands, whose support and knowledge are always there when we need them—whether it’s helping us hang a frame on the wall or analyzing new market opportunities. They’re our constant source of encouragement, balance, and strength, and we couldn’t have done this without them.
