We had the good fortune of connecting with Princess Puckerin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Princess, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
In my opinion, these words “work life balance” shout oxymoron altogether. Over time, I have grown to improve shuffling my personal, school, and business life equally. However, that beginning stage is something else. I spent way too much time focusing on one position more than the other which left me with huge gaps to fill and delays if I had time limits. For example, if I invested too much time on content for the business, it would take away from my studying time for school and potentially interrupt my sleep schedule. Setting limits prevents over working on one aspect and under working the next. In the beginning I found myself neglecting my personal life quite often to put more energy into the business and school in order to keep up with both. Fortunately, this phase did not last too long as I found myself struggling to maintain my stress levels due to lack of attention for both my mental and physical health. Once I started organizing my time and setting limits to how much effort and energy I would put into each aspect, it naturally created allowance for way more things to get done. Aligning my goals with a realistic outlook improved my time management and even permits me to setting multiple precautions in place, if one situation does need more attention than the next.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am currently a full time business owner, the CEO of Royalty Ranked, while also being a full time student in Residential Real Estate at Collège de l’Immobilier du Québec. One thing that I share with many is do not be afraid. I think feeding into fear creates this barrier that can push you further and further away from the reality that you envision for yourself. When I decided that I wanted to become a Real Estate Broker, it seemed like such a huge jump. From the registration to the consistent attendance while also trying to figure out how I would afford the courses necessary to obtain the license, was all so overwhelming. I let my fear push me away from applying, until one day I was just over being in the same spot with my life. I applied and got accepted instantly. It seems like such a small step looking back but in the moment it was one of the happiest days of my life because I knew what it meant for me long term. Knowing that I was going to be a full time student, I made sure I had all the time in the world to devote to school. I accepted brand ambassador and movie gigs here and there but refused to take either of them on full time while I was in school. However, I had created this small business that basically had no name, brand, etc. It started off as a simple hair care routine that I was just for myself and when the people closest to me started asking about it, I decided to take small steps to start building clientele and putting work into marketing. At first, I was giving bottles away because I didn’t really think anything of it until my circle refused to accept free products and started paying for their supply. This motivated me to continue moving forward as it started becoming a necessity and I couldn’t slack on this now dependable product. It was really just a hobby that I would use to escape school work but then I became invested. I started buying accessories, looking into a logo, buying packaging, you name it and I was already working on the blue print. I always did my best to put school first but sometimes I just got so carried away thinking about what this would be for me longterm. I have surpassed many goals since and I am extremely grateful I was patient enough to make it to where I am today. I made countless sacrifices & I regret none.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Interesting, I guess it depends on what day of the week it is;

Thursdays we could get our hair done by @_theHairSurgeon
Fridays we can get our nails done by @IviieNailBar
Saturdays we would eat Maison Majesty @GussyMajesty
Sundays we could go finish the week with a spa day from @Beauty.by.Ashleey & @Whatyulove.wax

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I believe having a supportive circle is extremely important when you are going through so much change and such a fast rate. You want to be fully reassured and have great confidence. However, it is very easy to fall low from those points when you feel like you are alone. So with that being said, thank you to those who never let go of my hand and keep pushing me to continue being the best version of myself.

Thank you to my god parents, Aunty Cammy & Aunty Lisa, you guys have moved the moon and the stars for me.

Thank you to my grandparents for constantly reminding me to move forward.

Thank you to Sydirah for always helping me and giving me a reason to continue working so hard.

Thank you to Dawnglez for consistently supporting me in every aspect of my life and helping me break through all my indecisiveness.

Thank you to Majesty for loving and wanting the best for me, and the rest of the BamMily for always supporting me.

Thank you to my Queen for believing in me and making sure my environment is always safe and protected.

Thank you to my right hand, Keishawn, for always looking out for me.

And last but not least, thank you to everyone else who has shown love and have supported me throughout the years and even the times that have yet to come.

I love you all and I know how important acknowledging the things you guys do for me is. I appreciate it and I am truly grateful to have you in my life. Blessings.
