We had the good fortune of connecting with Rebecca Martinez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rebecca, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Ever since I was little, I knew I always wanted to be a business owner. I loved the thought of being my own boss, being the decision maker, leader and role model. I embodied that mindset in everything I did in life to come – specifically in college. When I become the president of SAAC (Student Athletic Advisory Committee), and started to break school records on the volleyball court, I really started to understand what that “boss” role felt like. From there on, I knew that owning my own business was definitely somewhere in my future, I just didn’t know when. When the only decision left was to open my own business a few years after graduating college, I took the opportunity and never looked back. Just diving into the entrepreneur world and making sure I only succeed. The reasonings for me to take that jump… well there were many. But the main reason was so I could become financially free myself, to then have my parents and family live a life of financial freedom as well.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I sell on Amazon and I teach people how to sell on Amazon. I am also an influencer and still coach volleyball on the side. I started a social media page of just showing exactly what a day in my life looks like as an Amazon Seller and people loved it. I keep it very real and make sure to talk about the negatives of the business and the reality of the business. This definitely sets me apart from others in the space. I also teach people one on one – because I believe in the visual and support approach. Starting a new side hustle or business is challenging and confusing, and sometimes all people really need is that one on one support. This also sets me apart from others in the space. Starting a business is never easy – especially starting one with only $200 left to your name like I did while battling a health condition. To overcome the challenges I always had to go back to my mental – positive thoughts, taking time to think through things, manifesting outcomes and how I want my life to look and praying. I have learned as a business owner that you really do wear all of the hats, no matter what. So become really good at ALL of the hats you have to wear because at the end of the day it is your name and face behind the business so run it like all you have is you. My brand is FINDIT.FLIPIT. What I want people to know about me and my brand is that it is possible. Anything really is possible. You just have to want it and believe you deserve it. I started my business with only $200, being in and out of the hospital, and working 3 jobs. The push for change has to come from you realizing that your life does NOT have to be how it is. Make the change and make the jump.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite places are Palm Beach and Jupiter. I grew up just inland of these beautiful cities, 15 minutes away from Palm Beach and 40 minutes away from Jupiter. When my best friends come down to visit, I always make sure we do these things:

1. Eat at a bagel shop: Brooklyn Bagel in Wellington, FL or 2nd Street Bagel in Boca Raton, FL
2. Go to the beach of course: Juno Beach or Palm Beach
3. Eat at Benny’s on the Beach in Lake Worth, FL: an amazing breakfast spot right on the pier at Lake Worth Beach
4. Walk / Rent bikes through Palm Beach Island and manifest our future homes
5. Paddle board in Jupiter then grab a drink at Square Grouper this amazing bar right on the water
6. Eat dinner at the best restaurant in all of Florida: Black Bird in Jupiter, FL
7. See the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach
8. Get amazing croissants and coffee at Loic Bakery in West Palm Beach, FL
9. Go shopping at the Adventura Mall
10. See a Polo match in Wellington if they come during Polo Season

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The beauty of being an athlete my whole life is that I was able to really understand work ethic, being a leader, being a role model, the importance of a team, showing up and putting extra work in and so much more. Sports really shapes people, but I do believe that your upbringing, your beliefs and the people you surround yourself with play just as big as a role as sports. If I did not have the amazing parents and sister that I have, I don’t know how I would be. From the constant love, support, and grace… how they raised me and how much they give with never expecting anything back is my main drive to be the most successful business woman and be able to give them the world, because they deserve it. When it comes to my beliefs, of course I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for God and the mental state I chose to stay in consistently. God brings the most beautiful blessings and craziest hardships. However, I always chose to look at the hardships as a blessing as well, because if I did not go through some very hard things, I don’t know if my business would have been started up today. As for mentors, I have had a few. But one specifically stands out to me. He is someone who only would harp on the positives of being a business owner, helped me understand the importance of skills like marketing and sales as well as being that shoulder to lean on no matter what. I would not be who I am today without all of those amazing people in my life.
