We had the good fortune of connecting with Rebecca Proenza and we’ve shared our conversation below.

What was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always had a love of writing. When I was twelve years old, I started writing my first book. I was halfway through book two when my computer crashed and I lost all my files. This made me realize that I wanted to be an author/writer and share my stories with the world.

What should our readers know about your work?
I write young adult fiction, mostly sci-fi but I also dabble in horror, action, and a splash of romance. I have four books published that are one story, and two more books planned that are two separate stories. I also have a secret project I’m working on that I can hopefully announce in a few months.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

I currently live in Port Saint Lucie, where there aren’t many exciting spots to go to. I’d take them to little shops and places to get coffee and pastries. If I was still in Miami, I’d take them to some of the museums, aquariums, and zoos that are there. If I can take them anywhere in Florida, the Orlando theme parks would be my first choice.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
