We had the good fortune of connecting with Rina Kharrasova and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rina, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to create something that goes beyond the usual concert format — a space where music feels personal and alive. That idea slowly turned into Tonraum, a project that connects sound, atmosphere, and audience experience.
Miami turned out to be the perfect place for that. There’s such an openness here — people are curious, experimental, and genuinely receptive to cross-genre ideas. It gives you the freedom to try things that might feel too bold elsewhere.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My work centers on sound, color, acoustics, and detail. I’m drawn to music that reveals its meaning slowly — where every nuance matters. Over time, this approach shaped the idea behind Tonraum, a project that connects piano performance with space, light, and atmosphere.
The road here wasn’t simple — moving countries, adapting to new audiences, studying, performing, building something from zero — it all took time. But I’ve learned that discipline and curiosity can take you anywhere if you stay consistent.
What I’m most excited about now is bringing my projects to life in Miami, where people are open to something fresh.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, it depends on their taste — but for my close friends, I’d start with coffee and breakfast in Coral Gables Downtown, since that’s where I live. It’s a green, calm part of town, yet close to everything.
Then maybe a walk through Fairchild Garden or a visit to the Pérez Art Museum by the bay. Evenings are for Wynwood or Coconut Grove – good food, art, and a relaxed Miami rhythm.
The city has this cool mix of beauty and pulse, and that balance always inspires me.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ve been incredibly lucky to be surrounded by people who value depth and beauty in music. I’m especially grateful to my mentors and colleagues at the Frost School of Music — their support and artistic curiosity keep me growing and experimenting.
And, of course, my husband deserves a huge shoutout — he’s been my calm, my inspiration, and the one who somehow always brings humor and balance into even the most intense days. Having someone who believes in what you do (and still manages to make you laugh) is the best kind of support.
I’d also like to thank my Tonraum team and friends in Miami, who make this journey feel like a real creative community — open, curious, and alive.
