We had the good fortune of connecting with Rodrigo Pedrosa and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rodrigo, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I went in search of my personal fulfillment, I followed my heart. I abandoned a career of almost 30 years in advertising with an advertising agency set up and stable to pursue the career of plastic artist.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a sculptor and painter, I work with clay in sculpture and oil paint on canvas in painting. I am an expressionist and my research is based on the human figure. My art is very emotional and visceral and through it I investigate human nature. Today I feel that all the effort was worth it and that my choice to abandon a stable career to follow my heart was right. My career has been built with a lot of effort and serenity because I believe that only time and dedication can bring us the expected return. I have Art as my only professional activity and there is nothing I can complain about because my career is developing and getting better every day. The transition to becoming a professional artist was not easy, but thanks to the support of my family and friends, besides of course a lot of dedication, I managed to overcome the initial moments and now everything is more balanced. What I learned from this experience is that it is always worth following your heart. With effort and dedication everything works out in the end and the focus is a fundamental element for the universe to conspire in favor.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Niterói, in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The places that I would take my friend to visit would be our beautiful beaches and our Museum of Contemporary Art. I would also make a point of taking my friend to visit the institution that I am a volunteer where we take care of 220 needy children called Fraternal Remanso (remansofraterno.org.br) so that he could get in touch with an Organization that does an illuminated job of free education for children and low-income teenagers.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family and particularly my wife Ana.
