We had the good fortune of connecting with Sabien T Willis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sabien T, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Well it was kinda always in me. I definitely see it as a genuine gift from God. As I got older I see it more as me being a steward of this amazing talent, keeping it sharp and keeping it relevant. Its a tool in God’s tool belt to impact the world, so I never take it for granted. I am super grateful to be able to do what I do with it on such a hi level. In my BC(Before Christ) heydays it was all about using it for me, myself and I. That’s an inward thinking mindset. Today I use it more outward focussed to encourage young and old. I mean I still have projects and commissions I want or need to complete. I still use it for what I need or want to get done in my own life, of course. It just so happens I tend to want to share my artistic talent with the world more than just trying to keep it all for myself. I’m also attracted to creative ideas, stories, and ideals. So if I can lend my art to it to help one better visualize those things I’m down for that. Myself included
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I love and pay close attention to detail when I draw. I’m very proud of my most updated projects. My challenge to myself is to draw better than my last drawing. What I’ve learned is to take care of your talents and gifts, encourage others with as often as you see fit or an opportunity rises. I want the world to feel the time passion an attention I put into my projects a drawing or painting.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Right out the gate ALL GLORY BE TO GOD. Shout out to my parents of course, crazy support from my Mom and my Aunt Helen who is also a phenomenal painter and artist. She definitely inspired me to don’t stop and to keep practicing art. She saw the art bug in me early too. Big Shout out to a very special school I went to in my highschooler years. I didn’t attend a regular school you see. I auditioned and got accepted into a gifted and talented school in Gary, IN. Emerson School for the Visual & Performing Arts aka Emerson VPA. Go Tornados!! Lotta talent came out of those 1908 brick walls of that school. Crazy talent. And the teachers were the best too. Much love to all my Art Teachers there. Hands down the most encouraging would be Mr Sutton, Mr Biancardi who was a beast on oil and acrylic painting. Mrs Atinassi and an art teacher who was in my elementary years name Mrs Goldberg. She was a sweet lady. And shout out to may former art classmates which we all challenged each other, like a lot. George (Mr Detail) Banks who was knocking out full redonkulous detailed pics of THE MILLENIUM FALCON and inventing his own Robotech robots from memory I might add at 12 and 13. Derrick Harris was a master of graffiti and clothing design. R.I.P. He went on to do great work in the fashion industry working with icons such as Ludacris before his passing. Ivan Tapley, Isaac Bowens. In Disney definitely need to shout out my boy Brian Beachamp, James Parris, James Scotty (the Puppet Master)Shoemaker, Isaac V Cropp (who was mighty with a pen or pencil).
