We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara Vetock and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sara, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
That in the beginning you will have to work for free and even spend of your own money to be able to gain experience and build your career so you can eventually be rewarded for your work. Another thing that people who aren’t in the industry are unaware of it’s that you won’t get paid like a regular job (weekly or biweekly), sometimes we have to wait even 90 days to get paid.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I work as a model and hand model. I started in 2016 and since then I have been working in music videos, commercials, I do a lot of hand modeling and since 2019, I started working on QVC. Something that I think it sets me apart is that I am ethnically ambiguous; this is something that has helped me a lot to get jobs.
I am proud of everything I have overcome, my fears, my low self esteem and self criticism. Now, I am aware of who I am and seeing all the things that I have accomplished even when I didn’t understand much about the industry in the beginning; it shows me that I can do anything I want and that the sky is the limit.
Before I started this journey, I cleaned houses, and one of the ladies whom I used to clean her house; was the one who encouraged me to start looking for something in this industry. I guess she saw something I didn’t or I wasn’t aware I had.
It hasn’t been easy, but it has been a rewarding experience. When you do what you love even when the journey gets hard, you will see the bright side. Some of the lessons that I’ve learned are one: to accept the word no or next ;). Two: to be more patient of the process, and three and I think it’s very important is to be kind and professional always.
What I want with my story is to inspire others to make the decision and pursue the dreams they have. Even, when you don’t know anything about it, the journey will teach things that will take you where you want to be. Of course, be consistent, disciplined, and trust your process.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I don’t know much about Miami, but the times I have been there, I like to go to Colombian restaurants (since I am Colombian) these are my places to go. I love West Palm Beach, Miami Beach. And two things in my bucket list is to go to the Seaquarim and to the Miami South Beach Art Deco Tour.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Danielle Citron (Jefferson Scholars Foundation Schenck Distinguished Professor in Law at the University of Virginia School of Law and author of the book Hate Crimes in Cyberspace). Danielle and her daughters encouraged me to pursue this career and also, helped me finding the websites I checked were legitimate.

Cristina DeHart (Founder of ExploreModeling). Cristina found me on Backstage and offered me to join a webinar she was hosting helping new talent to know more about the industry. By her reaching out to me and watching her webinar showed me all the thing that are involved in this industry.

Desiree Pascal (Model) She didn’t let me give up and introduced me to my actual agent Joy.

Joy E. Pinizzotto (Co-owner of Joy Talent Agency). She has been a great agent.
