We had the good fortune of connecting with Scott Barnes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Scott, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
I don’t ever think you should give up anything you do in life. There is always a reason to keep going because you will never regret not giving up.

If I was going to give up, I would have done it a long time ago. There are always going to be times when giving up would be the easy choice but the hard times are what make you better in the end. If you give yourself the option to give up, how can you learn and grow?

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I launched my cosmetics brand two and a half years ago, just prior to the pandemic and shutdowns. Despite that, I have built a business and brand, and I am optimistic about the the brands future. As you can imagine, the challenges have been many, with setting up a studio from scratch, to developing products that I have had in mind for decades, which then require the process of developing those products, and selling them online. I enjoy sharing my skillsets with those that work with me. My brand is basically based on my decades-of-experience within the fashion and makeup/cosmetics industry. My challenge is to take the exposure and name recognition and translate that into my brand and business, which is Scott Barnes Cosmetics. I have found that the key to success in anything, is pushing through the challenges and, if you are pursuing your passion, which is what I have done my entire career, and surround yourself with great people, things seem to come together in the end!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would first take them to my studio because I can’t lie, its my favorite place in the city. If we are going to eat, I always say the best restaurant in town is my own kitchen, I love to cook for people. Of course, there are beautiful beaches and hiking to do is Los Angeles as well, and you can’t leave without shopping either!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The most important group of people that I surround myself with, fear and respect God and without my faith I wouldn’t be here. So, I guess my shoutout would be to Jesus Christ!
