Meet Sharon Feiereisen

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sharon Feiereisen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sharon, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’m originally from NYC but 10 years ago I moved to Tel Aviv. After the horrors of October 7th, I came back to the city with my two kids while my husband stayed in Israel. There was almost no thought process in starting The Mom Club – it was a way to meet other parents while entertaining my kids and raising some funds for October 7-related charities.
The specific events stemmed from the fact that there were no “mommy and me” type activities that were designed to entertain both my kids even though they are only 21 months apart. And certainly no workout studio that would allow me to workout with them. So the first events I planned (shoutout Barre3 and Terez who dressed the moms at the first event!) were workout classes in the park that parents could bring kids of any age to. I teamed up with some amazing brands to provide play things, so while we worked out, the kids were entertained with toys and snacks from brands like Little Spoon, Hippeas and more.
To that end, every event includes an amazing gift bag packed to the brim with goodies from brands including Bobbie, Slumberkins, Frida, BaubleBar, Pipette, Bliss, La Roche-Posay, Tubby Todd, EZPZ, Petite Maison Kids, Yoto and so many more – we’ve even had Bella Sirena wine and Wandering Bear Organic Cold Brew… all in the name of leveling up your run-of-the-mill “mom event.”
I never thought that after a few months we’d be doing events in Miami and the Hamptons as well.
This summer will be the best one yet kicking off with a workout at Tremble with all the women dressed in sets by Terez and socks by Almla Active! We’ll also have workouts at Calissa where women in all stages of motherhood will be invited to workout – including pregnant and postpartum (even babies will be allowed to join!) and Belly Bandit will be providing the workout leggings. Plus, expert-led events on topics including sleep, starting solids, mom health and more in partnership with some of my fave brands (can’t wait to share more!!). Dads will also be welcome to a number of the events – including at a workout we’re doing at Barry’s in Southampton (I’m an OG fan and worked out there during pregnancy and early postpartum…it’s not “scary” like many women think! They actually have a “double floor” option, which I usually do… I almost never actually run).

What should our readers know about your business?
It’s always a challenge to get the word out. You can plan the most amazing event, but if no one knows about it, it’s all for nothing. And specifically for The Mom Club everything is about the people that show up and the connections formed. That said, I’ve done events in very small spaces where there’s only room for 5-6 families and I’ve met some of my favorite moms at those (shoutout to Lindsay who came to my first event ever and has become one of my best friends…she even designed The Mom Club logo!).
Daily I remind myself that I’m always just doing the best I can with the information I have (thank you Dr. Becky for that!) and what will be will be.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My kids and I love to start our day at Pura Vida Sunset Harbor because they have a big couch in the front and most of the people already know our order there – the kids always order a cappuccino which can be confusing if you don’t know that, that is code for milk with foam (they’re almost two and 3.5 years old).
That area is also where all the best workouts are like Gotham Gym (we’ve done some amazing events there including one to launch their Kids Boxing Program and had all the parents in attendance were decked out in Reebok’s latest FloatZig 1 shoes and all the toddlers and kids in Reebok Classics), Megaformer where we teamed up with Carbon38 for another great event (the Takara Shine workout set everyone got was soooooo good!! And Sticky Be Socks gave everyone really awesome grippy socks) and Barry’s where we’ll be doing an event in June with Starr Hawkins! Belly Bandit will be dressing everyone for that event – I’m so excited to show women that even if you’re pregnant or postpartum you can workout at Barry’s (also many people don’t know you can do Barry’s and not run!).
Andrea Saty has a “secret” sculpting workout class in a gorgeous penthouse suite at the Mondrian South Beach – so for a “best time ever” I’d also include her class. We’re doing an event together June 1, which I’m super excited about – it’s going to include awesome giveaways for all the women from brands like Free People, Evereden, Rain (most refreshing water!) and more in a stunning indoor/outdoor space.
Post workout I love True Loaf Bakery – they make the best bread it’s worth the wait. Or BOTTA Italian Street Food for a sandwich (we have a great event coming up there as well on starting solids with fellow toddler mom Rebecca Washuta MS, LDN). For the afternoon, if I’m with the kids I’ll usually head to Flamingo Park or The Children’s Museum and for dinner we love Motek, Abbale or any one of the restaurants along Espagnola Way because it’s such a nice street.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m so grateful to all those that work with The Mom Club, especially those at the beginning who really took a chance like Terez, Sage + Sound, Zing!, Little Maestros, Redviolet Studio, Piano Buds and so many others.
When my kids and I first came to the USA from Israel Chabad UES and Chabad Young Families really embraced us and were one of the main reasons my children had such a smooth transition. The initial events I planned all the money went to them and while the funds I was able to raise were teeny tiny, I hope it was a way to convey to the awesome women – Chanie and Cheved – who run the programs how meaningful their impact is.
