We had the good fortune of connecting with Sherie Billingslea and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sherie, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
As a mother, the most important thing I have done is to show my child that I am human. I get frustrated, confused, disappointed, and more.
I show her my feelings, and I express them as well.
She needs to know that it is okay to feel our emotions and move forward.
She needs to know that we are not machines and that the key is to embrace how we feel and why we feel that way and find an outlet that doesn’t harm us or others.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Brown B.O.S.S. Social Media Management Agency assists minority business owners and entrepreneurs with content strategy, implementation, scheduling, and community engagement for Facebook and Instagram.
By offering authentic, straightforward tools, strategies, and resources to help their business reach more people, increasing their brand reputation, creditability, conversions, leads, and sales by using social media as the vehicle.
Brown B.O.S.S.’s goal is “to promote and support brilliant, outstanding, skillful, and successful minority business owners and entrepreneurs.”
I want you to know when you prepare yourself, and the opportunity presents itself to jump out there on faith—having faith, knowing, and trusting that God will guide us through each step.
There will be no simple solution. It will take time. It is not a popcorn process but more of a slow cooker process.
If you face challenges such as no clients, no sales, or your ideas seem stupid or dumb, I want you to know.
First, you should step back, pause, and give yourself grace at that moment. Then it would be best if you got back to your work.
In order to determine what is worth pursuing, what is worth learning more about, or when to pivot, you must test out all of your ideas and dreams.
I am speaking from experience. There were moments where I had no clients or sales. All I had was an idea and $1,000 that I won from a pitch contest.
My idea was to promote and support brilliant, outstanding, skillful, and successful minority business owners and entrepreneurs.
B.O.S.S. stands for brilliant, outstanding, skillful, and successful.
We all possess those traits, and sometimes we need to collaborate and work together to bring those traits out or take them to another level.
No one is an island, and we are not robots.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My friends know me 🙂 I love to relax and have just “enough” fun, but the way the world is right now, our time would be low-key.
We would start the day with chauffeur services provided by WTL Transportation Service, the best transportation service in the DMV area.
They will take us to In His Hands Wellness, where we will experience the best therapeutic services on the East Coast, enjoy lunch at the National Harbor MGM, and chill the rest of the day laughing, watching movies, and catching up on life.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
