We had the good fortune of connecting with Sina Nowak and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sina, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11
What should our readers know about your business?
I didn’t start out in the financial services industry with the thought of some day owning my own consulting firm. As a matter of fact, I chose the path I did (compliance), over sales because of my fear of being an “independent contractor”. I actually tried my hand at sales, but quickly decided that a steady paycheck, insurance benefits for myself and my family and set work hours was much easier, although not as potentially profitable. After many years of the 9-5, which was usually 8:30-6:00, I lost my steady compliance position due to “industry downsizing”. It was at this time I decided to try something new, Real Estate. Although it was one of the worst markets in history (2009-2012), I learned everything I could about the industry and dove head first into short sales and foreclosures. I also learned that I had to hustle if I wanted to make a living, which I had to do for my family. My real estate career was cut short (initially) when I was recruited back into the financial services industry with an offer “I couldn’t refuse”. It was difficult to do both the 9-5 and real estate, but I did enough to keep my real estate license active and paid for. Then, the opportunity to work as a compliance consultant for a large group of financial advisors presented itself. It meant leaving the safety of my regular paycheck, my office and the ladder I had began to climb back up. It was a very difficult decision, but, thanks to my previous experience with independence in real estate, I knew I could make it work. I JUMPED! Seven years later and I am still running a successful compliance consulting business, while having the freedom to also pursue my passion of helping people find their dream home, or sell when the time is right.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One great thing about south Florida is that there are plenty of outside activities, all year around. We’d start with a casual beach day right here in my home town of Lake Worth. One of my favorite spots is Benny’s on the Beach. The food is delicious, the drinks are cold and the atmosphere is the best of Florida. We’d definitely take in a concert at one of the outdoor amphitheaters here, maybe do a little biking or even rent one of those ketchy Segways to cruise around down town West Palm Beach. Finally, I’d take them snorkeling or scuba diving in Jupiter, maybe even a shark dive if they were daring enough.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There’s not one individual that contributed to my success, but many. From childhood, I always received the support and encouragement of my Mother, God rest her soul. A single Mother who overcame so many obstacles with courage and grace, she paved the way not only for my success, but for my survival. The pride she showed in my every accomplishment encouraged me to do more. I’m fortunate to have a husband and children that continue that encouragement and are my “why” everyday. I continually strive to learn and grow in the industries I have chosen, as well as further my personal growth with various “self help” literature and courses. One of my favorite authors is Elizabeth Gilbert.
