We had the good fortune of connecting with Sloan Tate and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sloan, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The first time I understood my mediumship ability I was practicing on a yoga mat. I had just moved to Miami and joined my first teacher training. Mediumship is the ability to connect with people who have passed, whom I call Spirits. Pictures, movie-like images, and silhouettes of people moved around me as I began a meditation practice. While some people are scared and dismiss the spiritual world, I felt determined to learn more. It’s been 7 years, since I had this revelation. Now I am teaching others how to access this spiritual power and share it with the world.
I’m a natural born medium, but I was born in the conservative South. Where I grew up, this work is very taboo. I was sent to doctors, who diagnosed me with ADD/ADHD and prescribed amphetamines. Western medicine thinking tends to misdiagnosed spiritually gifted children. This only serves to increase feelings of unworthiness and loss of confidence.
When I landed in my first teacher training, I was desperate for a solution to quiet my anxiety. I was tired of taking medication and wanted to find alternatives to living a more peaceful life. Once I joined a community of people who were inward focused. I learned how to access my connection to my inner child with peace and calmness. Little did I know, accepting my abilities would one day become a gateway to working in this field full-time and sharing my purpose and passion with others.
Thank God for the Miami community. This is the city where you can be whatever you want to be– People are so accepting here. The first few years of charging for Mediumship work I was terrified… BUT I did it anyway. Something bigger than me kept wanting to channel through. The bonus was that the more I listened and channeled, the less anxiety I felt, the more I connected to my highest self.
After studying meditation and yoga, I dove into learning about how to use my abilities. I traveled to learn about the value of Mediumship in different communities all around the world. I studied at Arthur Findlay College in England and with mentors in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I find that the more I focus on my own growth, the more people want to work with me. Mediumship is definitely an inside job that a higher power, whom I call God, has a hand in. Mediumship is how the Universe wanted to manifest through me. My process was simple: when starting my business, I answered the call and the rest worked out for itself. Looking back, I would definitely say, this work chose me.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a Spiritual Medium. I use my body as a vessel to connect people to their departed loved ones. What sets me apart from other Mediums is that I channel only the highest realms. If you work with me, you may only hear what is in your “highest good” to hear. The information that channels through me aligns with fulfilling your purpose on Earth.
I also mentor Empaths who are experiencing new spiritual powers through a 1:1 coaching program. Recently, I began a mastermind course called, The Spiritual Development Circle. Once a week we practice receiving information from Spirits.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
2020 has really changed things. So, first things first, we are definitely taking advantage of the recent hotel rates and staying at the One Hotel. We’ll spend the day on the beach and then, grab some mocktails and wine at Margot. Dinner reservations are set at The Bazaar by Jose Andres. Next, we are waking up with the glorious Miami sun and doing yoga on the beach.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people who have had a hand in my journey and who I want to thank. I am aware and grateful to all those who came before me. To the teachers who directly passed on this information to me: Claire from Light House Yoga, Tutors from Arthur Findlay, The Quiet Place, Rachel Hope, and my first yoga teacher who held space for this awakening, Claire Santos. I am also grateful for all the amazing clients that I work with. I especially want to recognize my mother, who has been a friend and mentor on this journey with me. Mostly the entire city of Miami. What a special place to live. As soon as I hit soil here, my soul remembered who I was. This is a magical city where all your wildest dreams come true and it’s because of the amazing community that exists here.
