We had the good fortune of connecting with Spence Levy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Spence, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
A happy partner. A partner can be a customer or a vendor. I believe in good business for all. I believe in building long-term relationships with people we do business with. Providing good customer service with quality products has been the backbone of our company. When you do a good job people remember and refer you. This has made our company grow year after year. Treat people the way you want to be treated.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Our art is the fun part – we match the proper scent to any environment. We take into consideration the colors of the room, the lighting, the music in the background, the feeling and emotion you want to convey. Do you want your space to be energizing or relaxing? Do you want people to move fast or take their time moving through the space? Scent is directly linked to people’s emotions. This is our special art that we take very seriously. Sixteen years ago when we started talking about this, people did not take scent seriously. Over the years, so many studies have come out supporting the power of scent. Today, it is common practice in hotels, casinos, retail stores, cruise lines and so many other industries. We now know how important first impressions are. Today, we scent thousands of locations around the world with our own patented technology. We custom make fragrances for fortune 500 companies and work with some of the best perfumers in the world. We have launched global scent marketing and branding programs that 16 years ago we could not even dream of. None of this success was easy and many challenges had to be overcome. I would not change a single minute of it.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would have dinner at Eating House the first night. Go fishing in the ocean the next day. Drive down to Flamingo Everglades National Park for a day of exploring and a different kind of fishing. Spend a day in Key Largo scuba diving. Go feed Tarpon at Robbie’s. Grab lunch at Joe’s. Have vaca frita at Havana Harry’s. Go Kayaking at Oleta River State Park. Have a BBQ with the entire family and friends in the backyard.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Lots of people have been a part of the success of Air Esscentials. Every partner I have had in the past has taught me something. Every experience, good or bad, has helped us get to this point. Every mistake I have made and learned from. My partner in this business is my brother. He is the opposite of me in most ways. He keeps me balanced and more cautious. Also, my wife for being there when I am not and the whole team. We have been so lucky to have so many people on our team. We are one big family and I am so grateful for the amazing people I get to work with.
