We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamara Magalhães and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tamara, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Over the past two decades, Nano and I have had the opportunity to work across a wide spectrum of the hospitality industry—from large, mainstream hotel chains to global private membership clubs and stand-alone restaurants. We’ve been fortunate to be part of dynamic teams led by visionary leaders, gaining hands-on experience in everything from day-to-day operations and finance to people management. We’ve contributed to the openings of new establishments and navigated the challenges of a few closures—each experience adding to our growth and learning.

Through industry connections and long-standing friendships, we partnered with like-minded individuals to bring a shared vision to life: to create a warm, neighborhood gathering place. That vision became The Blue Door—a space with its own identity, where we serve simple, unpretentious food made with the freshest ingredients, all in a welcoming atmosphere with genuine, uncomplicated service

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Palm Beach is truly a place to see and experience, full of glamour, beauty, and rich history. The drive alone is stunning, with its mix of architectural styles—from Mediterranean Revival to Spanish Colonial—set against beautifully manicured landscaping.

A visit to The Breakers and The Flagler Museum is a must, followed by a leisurely stroll along Worth Avenue and its charming paseos. It’s the perfect spot for a little shopping—and, of course, coffee and ice cream.

Across the bridge in West Palm Beach, City Center is a family destination for dining, shops and play.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, we are deeply grateful to our families—who not only supported us, but also understood the sacrifices and countless absences along the way.
We’ve been fortunate to learn from so many incredible and talented teams. None of this would have been possible without them—from the creative and inspiring chefs, to the warm smiles and kind gestures of everyone who has chosen a career in this industry to create memorable experiences for others.
