We had the good fortune of connecting with Tank McCoy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tank, why did you pursue a creative career?
God has put a certain passion inside of me that I can’t deny. Music has been my life force since I can remember and I was always captivated by the allure of the music industry, though you come to realize it ain’t all partying and loose woman. It takes a certain work ethic and dedication that isn’t found in everybody BUT can be instilled in ANYBODY. To be a artist is to be ok with perceived “failure”. What this world would have you believe is failure is actually progression. For every stumbling block there is a lesson, in every lesson there is progression. Music is science, every action produces a reaction and while the world may react in a manner not conducive with perceived “success”, if you are to be truly successful you will see said “failure” as just another opportunity to learn, grow and try again. The race is not won by the swift or the strong but instead by those who endure.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The thing that sets me apart from the majority of successful artists is I do not view myself as better than others predicated on my success. I stick to humility in all that I do because I realize not everybody gets such an opportunity. Not that their circumstance holds them back but instead they do not allow themselves the freedom to imagine life beyond “average”. For this revelation I am truly grateful and it keeps me grounded in truth.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If you’re ever in Tampa you gotta go down to Armature Works. Great food, great atmosphere and a plethora of cocktails (if that’s what you’re into). If it’s nightlife you’re looking for the Ybor strip (7th ave) boasts a bounty of bars and nightclubs so you can get your drink and your dance on. But if it’s up to me you’ll find me at J-Notez studio knocking out some new tracks or kicked back at the crib with my wife and kids.

I dedicate EVERYTHING in my life WHOLLY to God, the Holy Spirit and my savior Jesus Christ
