We had the good fortune of connecting with Terry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Terry, what’s your definition for success?
Success for me is defined by doing what I love and accomplishing my goals. In order to be successful I believe one must be passionate about what they do and give it their all. I feel a sense of fulfillment seeing my clients wearing our jewelry and that to me is the ultimate definition of success. It’s about being able to express myself through my designs and my jewelry and being able to connect with my clients through these pieces.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve always loved creating jewelry. I started designing jewelry when I was a little girl. At first, I did it for fun and made necklaces and bracelets for my friends. Later on, I started gifting some pieces for silent auctions in charities that I was involved in. I always loved it and felt so fulfilled when I saw others wearing my designs so it was always a goal of mine to turn this passion into something more. I kept a sketchbook where I designed my pieces and after years of thought I finally decided to jump in and follow my dreams. With a lot of hard work, discipline and dedication I was able to achieve my goals and launch my brand.

Jewelry is my form of art and expression. The inspiration for Del Este comes from a passion for jewelry design and effortless, everyday elegance. Most of my pieces seek to tell a story. For example, the Roma Collection embodies elements of ancient Roman architecture with modern jewelry designs. This collection is very special to me as I was born in Rome and I wanted to create something that speaks to my roots and tells my story. The pieces are delicate and beautiful, and bring a modern edge to fine jewelry.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Miami has so much to offer! If a friend was visiting for a week I would make sure to take them to the beach which is beautiful all year around. I would also set up a day to walk around the Design District, Coral Gables, and Coconut Grove. I would set up a day to visit the beautiful gardens of Vizcaya, and also another day to soak up the sun at Soho House on the beach. They would also definitely get a taste of all my favorite Italian restaurants in Miami which include Portosole in the Gables, Cipriani in Brickell, and Casa Tua on the Beach. Lastly, I would love to take them to the Historic Dupont Building in downtown Miami where they can see the Del Este magic at work and see how we bring our jewelry designs to life!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my family who has always supported me in my endeavors and always believed in me. They pushed me to continue pursuing my dreams and introduced me to the place that served as my inspiration for my designs. My family spends a lot of time in Punta Del Este, Uruguay and it was there where I was able to finalize my first collections: the Stella and Diamante Del Este Collections. From there, I was able to introduce my designs to the world and continue creating the pieces I love.
