We had the good fortune of connecting with The BoyS Brian and Steven and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi The BoyS, why did you pursue a creative career?
We both have been with the arts since we were young, it just seemed like a normal career path for both of us. Going to college for dance or musical theatre, perusing jobs on cruises or professional theatres around the country. So when Steven moved down here from Michigan and found Brian, it just made sense, we had this passion for singing and performing and we understood how to give the crowd what they wanted. The next logical step was to create this cabaret style duo group. Two male vocalist taking on everything from the 50’s, 60’s, up to the 90’s and current pop hits. Singing both male and female songs with our own dance twist.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Well we are first and foremost entertainers, and that in itself is never an easy thing to do, but on top of that we created this new act and branded ourselves The BoyS to make us marketable. We had both never really done anything like this, when it comes to reaching out, booking, rate of pay, social media, marketing, etc. So this was and continues to be a challenge but we both welcome that.
We work hard to give the best product we can, and we know our love and passion for it shows every time we step on a stage or sing a song. We change peoples days and help them through times, without even knowing it.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh my goodness what a great question… Wilton Manors is such a beautiful, eclectic city full of so much fun. Typically we would start out somewhere for some delicious food, so either Bona for Italian or Tulios for some mexican. Then we would make out way to the center of the drive, to where we like to call the trifecta. We would do a little bar hoping from The Pub, to Alibi, and then to Hunters. All three have amazing shows going on at any point. Then we would probably go for a night cap at Drynk.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people that helped this creation become a reality. To the local performers, the businesses and our loved ones who were there with us every step of the process
