We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Lawton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiffany, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The Heart Behind the Healing: How My Brother Tyler Inspired a Legacy of Care
The most important factor behind the success of my business—and the true foundation of my brand—is my baby brother, Tyler Christopher.

Tyler was born three months early, in December 1999, at Memorial Regional Hospital. He entered the world with severe Down syndrome and autism, and an array of critical health challenges. His tiny heart was beating outside of his chest, his digestive system had not developed, and he required a G-tube to eat, as he couldn’t swallow food or speak. Despite these overwhelming odds, Tyler radiated love and strength.

He lived just shy of 19 years and passed away in December 2018, only two days before his birthday, at the very hospital where he was born.

Watching the nurses in the NICU care for him for three months changed the course of my life. I was only 16 years old at the time, but the compassion I witnessed planted a seed in me. I knew then: I wanted to become a nurse. I wanted to help—not just for my brother, but for my mom, and for families like ours. Tyler gave me a purpose.

That purpose evolved into a passion for service. I started working as a special needs counselor for children and adults at the YMCA. The experience taught me what no classroom ever could: true care comes from the heart. I went on to become a healthcare professional, serving from 2008 to 2019 in the same hospital that bookended Tyler’s life.

In time, I earned both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees. But my heart led me further—to create a healing space of my own. That vision became Nikki Zen’s Health and Beauty, a traveling medical spa rooted in compassion, accessibility, and care. I founded it with one mission: to give back.

Through Nikki Zen’s, I offer healthcare-inspired beauty and wellness services—facials, massages, post-operative care, and more—brought directly to clients in the comfort of their homes. My goal is to change the culture around self-care and healing. I want the average person, not just the privileged few, to experience the benefits of these services at prices that are fair and accessible.

Healthcare is my number one priority—not just the kind found in hospitals, but the kind that begins with kindness, humanity, and empathy. Tyler taught me that. He never got to experience life’s simple luxuries: eating, talking, walking. Things we often take for granted. Because of him, I’ve learned to treasure those things—and to serve others with a heart full of gratitude.

To sum up the success of my business and reputation: Be kind. Be human. Don’t take the simple things for granted. Give without expectation.

I love you, Tyler. You are the heartbeat of everything I do.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My Journey: Purpose, Passion, and the Power of Healing
My career has never been just a job—it’s been a calling. Every step I’ve taken professionally has been guided by purpose, resilience, and love, especially love for my late brother, Tyler, who was born with severe health challenges and passed away just shy of his 19th birthday. He was my first patient, my first teacher, and the reason I chose a life of healing and service.

I started young, working as a special needs counselor for children and adults at the YMCA. That experience gave me a front-row seat to the strength of the human spirit. From there, I stepped into the healthcare field, dedicating over a decade to working in the same hospital where Tyler was born and passed—Memorial Regional Hospital. It was more than full circle; it was sacred ground for me.

I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees while working full-time and raising a family, determined to use every ounce of knowledge and experience to give back to my community. Eventually, that led to the birth of my own business—Nikki Zen’s Health and Beauty, a luxury travel Med Spa rooted in compassion, accessibility, and care.

What sets me apart is heart. Everything I do is deeply personal. I’ve been the sister in the hospital room, the caregiver, the grieving soul, the hopeful student, the determined entrepreneur—and now, the woman who shows up in people’s homes to remind them that they are seen, cared for, and deserving of healing.

No, it hasn’t been easy. Starting a business is hard. Balancing motherhood, loss, growth, and ambition is harder. I’ve had days where I doubted everything. But I had faith. I had my husband, my children, and my purpose pushing me forward. I learned to trust the process, embrace the failures, and use my pain as fuel.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is this: lead with kindness and never forget to be human. That’s the foundation of everything I do. My clients aren’t just appointments on a schedule—they’re people, each with their own stories and struggles. I want them to feel safe, seen, and valued.

Through Nikki Zen’s, I offer more than facials, massages, or post-op care—I offer healing, dignity, and a moment of peace in a world that often forgets to slow down.

If there’s one thing I want the world to know about me and my brand, it’s this: We’re not just about beauty—we’re about care, connection, and changing lives, one treatment at a time.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The People Who Keep Me Going: A Tribute to My Family and My Heart
I want to take a moment to give the deepest, most heartfelt shoutout to my husband, Miguel Becerra—my partner in life, love, and everything in between.

We’ve been together since I was 16 years old. I’m one year older than him, but somehow he has always had the wisdom and strength of someone beyond his years. Miguel is the quiet force behind everything I do. He keeps me grounded, centered, and constantly reminds me of the woman I am—even on the days when I forget.

He knows my dreams. He understands my mission. He sees the passion and the pain that fuel my work. When I doubt myself—and yes, there are days when the pressure of running a business feels overwhelming—he always knows the exact words to lift me up and the actions that bring me back to myself. His support is constant, unwavering, and full of love. I truly wouldn’t be where I am without him.

But Miguel isn’t the only light in my life.

I have two incredible sons who inspire me every single day.
Jaiden, 17, is not just a high school pitcher—he’s an honors student with discipline, drive, and a heart full of potential.
And Dominic, 11, is the overachiever of the family, our brilliant young artist with a mind that sees the world in beautiful, creative ways.

They both grew up with my brother Tyler. They understand the value of life—not just in theory, but in real, lived experience. Their compassion and perspective are far beyond their years, and they are truly my heart. Everything I build, everything I strive for—it’s for them. It’s my legacy.

And then there is Nancy, my daughter in every way that matters. I welcomed her into my life in 2018, the same year my brother passed away. God took one angel and gave me another. She has brought such joy and light to our family, and her presence is a blessing I will never take for granted.

When I look at the people around me—Miguel, Jaiden, Dominic, Nancy—I feel nothing but gratitude. I’ve been through loss, hardship, and moments of doubt. But because of them, I rise. Because of them, I give. Because I am so deeply blessed, I make it my mission to bless others.

They are my strength, my why, and my everything.
