We had the good fortune of connecting with Toni McClay and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Toni, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
For a creative like me it was definitely the best fit! I have always been fascinated by creating things with my hands. Cake decorating was the perfect outlet for me to let my creativity run wild and free. There are no limits when it comes to cake. The world is your oyster!

I also love sweets so the two go hand in hand. I had no idea that I was going to make a career out of this, it started as a hobby and has grown ever since. I got my first order in 2019 and the rest was history!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a confectionary artist/ pastry chef. I have been cake decorating since I was 10 years old and I recently graduated from pastry school.

Each of my designs are unique with an incredible amount of attention to detail and creativity. While you can go elsewhere, it is the amount of time and effort that I put into my work that sets me apart.

Getting to where I am has been a journey that is beyond words. It has not been easy but it has been so rewarding. I have had to learn to develop a very thick skin throughout this journey, it has tested me but it ultimately pushes me towards the best version of myself!

I would love for the world to know that my art is how I make my mark. I would also like for readers to know that anything is possible and dreams do come true. It is truly the most incredible feeling in the world!

I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my younger self. To know that I am making her proud is the best feeling in the world! I have worked so hard to get to where I am and I so grateful! I have been blessed beyond measure and it is all thanks to god!
