We had the good fortune of connecting with Tricia Campbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tricia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was to become the leader of my own destiny. Have the freedom to travel and spend more time with my friends and family. Plus being a conscious creator I just can’t help but to work in a more free flowing environment. I also love that there is no cap on how much money you can make when you own your own business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
This is such a great question my art is all about making shapes with your body as a model. Modeling is a business but it is also art. As models our jobs are to really showcase the designers creations. We are here on earth to have our buyers feel a certain emotion in a positive way. Not to toot my own horn but I am a fun bold model dancer on the runway. Plus I can do over 50 poses in one quick photoshoot session.

By the grace of my biggest modeling agent the Lord God I have achieved so much in my exciting career and still going strong for over 20 years. I am feeling so grateful. My journey never was easy fighting from being fat shamed when I entered Miss Jamaica to being height shamed when I first started modeling. I really had to become one of the best walkers and posers and fit models in the industry to proof all my critics wrong. I knew what my goal was to become one of the best. However my main mission is to uplift and empower other women of size. Women who lack self confidence because of their weight.

On my journey I have learnt 3 key lessons
1. Never give up on your dreams
2. Find your purpose and have fun with it.
3. know your why

I would love the world know that it does not matter where you come from it is where you are going in life. So never let your pass define your present and future. Also you have one life to live. No more putting off the things you want and must do.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Omg! definitely the beach. I am a beach and waterfall woman.

Day One we take a speed walk on the beach, then we go waterfall chasing at the YS water falls. After working up a splendid appetite we have lunch at the famous scotchies we hit up my favorite African dance class.

Day Two spa day get our nails done and massage done

Day Three we go to church to dance and hear the word of god and renew our spirits. Then to top it off at my favorite Jamaican restaurant The Pelican Grill we enjoy some yummy curry goat and white rice.

Day Four visit more friends and family

Day Five visit the Bob Marley museum and some of Jamaica’s other landmarks, parks and caves. Then we go check out a rockin reggae festival with the reggae artist chronixx performs

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would have to say it is my mum and grandmother. These 2 women taught me strength and determination no matter what you are going through, you can still success. Also working with and watching Oprah WINFREY ON SET while I was her Model Stand in for her magazine covers. It felt so amazing to learn from one of the best women in the world.

I also was privileged to meet a lingerie designer by the name of Miss Roslyn Harte who taught me so much. She also introduced me as a fit model to the entire lingerie industry.

I also have several coaches and mentors in my life.
