We had the good fortune of connecting with Vanessa Rome and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vanessa, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
My type A personality and OCD! I am highly organized and remember every detail, but the greatest factor that helped me to succeed is my work ethic and passion for interior design. I spent many years working in various fields until I figured out what my true calling was. Since then I have never doubted that this is what I was meant to do. I am excited to go to my office every day. To me, being a designer is not a job, it’s a passion. This is why I don’t mind working after hours and weekends. When you find something you truly love that is the measure of success.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Vanessa Rome Interiors is a boutique, residential, interior design studio with a New York City based office. I purposely keep our projects under 10 per year to ensure the type of client attention that I would expect if I were the client. I have learned countless lessons along the way with the most important being the need to measure and re-measure. Then when you think it’s correct, measure again!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would start by taking them to Indochine which is one of my old school favorite restaurants from when I attended NYU. It’s still there and it’s still amazing. I would then walk around Tribeca and Soho so we could pop into various clothing and furniture stores. I love to eat and I love Asian food so I would make sure to go to Nobu and Mr. Chow. If the weather is nice, a walk through Central Park is always fun people watching. Lots of characters to see in New York.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are many factors that contribute to my story and success as an Interior Designer. Starting from my husband and family who give me the freedom to work as hard as I do. My strong team who I could not do what I do without them alongside me. Last but not least, are my fellow Interior Designer colleagues who inspire me, guide me, and lift me up when I am stressed!
