We had the good fortune of connecting with Vanessa Velez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Vanessa, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“The woman who does not require validation from anyone is the most feared individual on the planet.” This brilliant quote from Mohadesa Najumi reminds me to lead with heart, embody my truth, and be unapologetic about it. Rather than requiring external validation, it’s a potent reminder that I am not here to fit in… I am here to be revolutionary.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m a fourth-generation healer and intuitive with a Fortune 500 background and Indigenous roots. One of my great-grandmothers was a shaman (and another was a madam who led a brothel, but that’s a story for another time). I come from a lineage of strong, intuitive women. Before I took the entrepreneurial leap, I led a corporate career in a male-dominated industry as a leader and professional problem solver – a path that would be forever altered the day I resigned and dove all in to my soul’s purpose. It was one of the scariest and most exciting decisions I’ve ever made in my life. Since then, I’ve worked with women in person and online, hosted group workshops and events, taught live online and on stage, and created my own products, programs, and the Clarity is Crucial podcast – all with one aim…to help brilliant women lead and be the person their purpose needs. I’ve been walking this path of personal development and self-mastery for over two decades now (I promise I’m older than I look.) I know what it is to have a lifelong obsession with making a difference in the world and the resistance you have to break through to step into that fully. My work centers on personal leadership and a holistic view of self-mastery. It’s extremely exciting work, especially now. Because the world needs more leaders who look like us, move like us, and match our values. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. Leadership is one of the things we need most right now. And yet, we’re not taught how to lead. I’ve learned there are levels to leadership… There’s leading your own mind, your emotions when you feel triggered, your actions when you feel fear, and also caring for yourself in a way that allows you to fulfill this very powerful mission that you have. It’s not simply about being more confident, speaking with conviction, or acting superior to others. There’s a lot more to leadership than that. It’s not about control, manipulation or mistrust. True leadership is based on growth, harmony, and truth. Indigenous tribes, mystics, and other enlightened beings already provided us with holistic models of leadership thousands and thousands of years ago. This knowledge is resurfacing, and it is a big part of the great awakening happening right now. This need for leaders who look like us, move like us, and match our values, is why I created my private leadership program, Role Model Mastery, where I get to help brilliant women from all backgrounds grow into the leader their purpose needs them to be. If you value deep connection, transformational conversations and learning advanced strategies that go beyond abstract advice, then Role Model Mastery is for you. Here’s what I can absolutely promise… You will get clear on the kind of person your purpose needs you to be, because without that level of clarity, you cannot make your purpose your reality. You will elevate into new ways of thinking and being, because those old ways will not help you be the person your purpose needs. And you will build the courage to lead with heart and truth, because that’s what walking the path of your purpose is asking you to do. There’s a warrior inside you, and in Role Model Mastery, we help bring her out even more.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Growing up in the Bronx, surrounded by concrete, made me a deep appreciator of nature. Whenever friends and family visit South Florida, we absolutely get outdoors. We enjoy the beaches in Miami, a scenic drive to the Florida Keys, and a self-guided tour in the Everglades. We also enjoy the cabin rentals at Oleta River State Park, while enjoying grilling and chilling by the campfire at night. When it’s time for an artsy vibe, we head over to the Perez Art Museum followed by lunch at Museum Park. We also head over to Wynwood for some shopping and gallery hopping, before wrapping it all up with a delicious gourmet dinner at Plant Miami.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’m dedicating this shoutout to the honorable ancestors that paved the way for me, and pray for me to win.
