We had the good fortune of connecting with Veronica Tierra and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Veronica, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Honestly, I don’t dwell on the word “risk” much. I see everything as an opportunity to grow and learn. You won’t know most things unless you try them anyway. I focus more on making conscious choices and trusting myself than on worrying about the potential losses. This mindset has allowed me to start a business, meet new people, and acquire skills that I will carry with me forever.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business, Tierra & Friends, seeks to help raise kind, empathetic, and curious children through music and entertainment. Our goal is not to teach children how to play an instrument or sing, but to support families and, by extension, our society by addressing gaps in the education system. These gaps include the importance of questioning, autonomous thought, social responsibility, awareness of diversity, and inclusion without any hidden agendas.

It has been a fun yet very challenging journey, but I’m happy to say that building my business has led me to learn exponentially about myself. I’ve also learned that discipline is something you can develop if you intentionally aim to do so, and that, paired with diligence, it can take you further than any talent. Moreover, it is always worth believing in yourself and playing through life.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would certainly love to give a friend the unique Latin experience that Miami offers. We would definitely go to the beach, eat pastelitos from Vicky Bakery, enjoy a Cuban sandwich, and dance some salsa! These are non-negotiable!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to give a shoutout to my parents for raising me with strong values and for encouraging me to not live life from a place of fear. They always inspired me to be open to trying new things and to believe in my abilities.
