We had the good fortune of connecting with Victor Feria and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Victor, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
We’ve all been at crossroads between opportunities that have life altering possibilities along with huge risks. This time can be stressful, exciting and full of emotions all at the same time. Mine came with all of the above, and more. The challenge is determining what is the upside and downside of your risk. In my instance, I took a big risk when my back was against the wall, which I’ve understood is when my biggest ideas and plans arise. Previously, I held a position where I was comfortable and had zero risks, but the company was experiencing a turnover in ownership and changes where I did not see a personal opportunity for growth. This was my time! I was faced with the risk of starting something fresh, new, and go through the struggle of starting a new company which was a lifelong dream for me or remain in my comfort zone. I took the leap! I would never go back and change any of it. Risk can be a very rewarding experience, with many challenges. What I learned is, we’re very adaptable as humans and any decision or risk we take we will figure out a way with resiliency. I am now more open to risks than I was before, while still outweighing the opportunities and being calculated. It has changed my outlook not only in my career but in my personal life as well.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Tangy Mgmt our focus is on, “Quality hospitality for a sweet stay.” We see the connection between a local experience and a well-managed home to be the beginning of a successful experience for guests. In providing the best experience for guest we are ultimately providing a stress-free service for homeowners while optimizing their properties potential. We specialize in short-term vacation rental property management in the South Florida area, predominantly in Miami. Vacation rentals have been around for years even however, technology has drastically improved. Therefore, we’ve ditched the old ways of running rentals and allowed state of the art software do the heavy lifting. We market the homes and interact with guests using popular sites such as Airbnb as well as other platforms. Tangy Management’s advantage—and what has truly made us unique—is having a background in luxury hotels and hiring hotel trained housekeepers. This is how we assure your house feels like a home but runs like a hotel. Aside from providing this service to homeowners and giving guests the opportunity to enjoy Miami at a local level, I’m most proud of my Tangy team. We employ the same people we started with that believe in the vision and new concepts and therefore have stayed around for the ride. I’m proud to provide a stress-reducing environment that allows them to perform their skills while removing the hustle and bustle most experience from working in hotels. The team is essentially what has truly attributed to the growth and reliability of this company and I truly appreciate; I am excited to continue growing this family.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We are so privileged to live in such a diverse and unique city. Miami is one of a kind, and everyone who visits feels it immediately! I am very big into the local spots, and love to share some amazing locations with our guests. I would waste no time and take my best friend to lunch at Marias Greek Restaurant and order a lamb Gyro platter. Next, I would most likely spend the day at Haulover beach with my Weimaraner Cali, as it is pet friendly. Hit Frenchies Diner in Coral Gables for dinner and order escargot, French onion soup, and the duck risotto. Delicious! Then to finish the night with some drinks and good company, head to The Andersons in El Portal or Lost Boys Dry Goods in Downtown. During the week, it would be a mixture of outdoor activities like golfing at The Biltmore, Biking the Key Biscayne bridge, renting a beach cabana in one of Miami Beach hotels using Daycation.com website, visiting different dives and hotel bars and definitely would not miss out on watching a Miami Heat game at the arena.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Alexandra, my fiancé who has been what I like to call the CEO to our lives. She’s a middle school science teacher, with a huge heart, patience and understanding. She has been my foundation and most importantly my collaborator in life for the past 7 years. Her encouragement, and motivation radiates through and keeps our focus in the right direction. I am lucky to have such strong women in my life, who has guided me and shared so much wisdom.
